transporterI wanted to continue with a certain them I had done before with Ass Whoopin Wednesdays as we were exploring all the individual movies of every member of The Expendables that did make one. We’ve seen films from Stallone, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, but there are some more guys that we are missing from this equation and we coverd one of them today. Jason Statham before The Transporter series had really only done British dark comedies like Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, but what he didn’t realize is that he was about to get his due with The Transporter becoming the action star of the 2000’s. In the first film, he plays Frank Martin, a man who follows a certain set of rules while he is on the job which are Rule Number 1: “Once the deal is made, it is final”, Rule Number 2: “No names”, and Rule Number 3: “Never open the package.” One day while on the job, he breaks one of his rules as he opens the package to find a Chinese girl named Lai (Qi Shu). The people he delivers her to figure out that he opened the package and they try to take him out. Now he is on a mission to get them back for what they did and this time he’ll try to save the girl before it’s too late. The film also stars François Berléand (The Chorus) as Inspector Tarconi, Matt Schulze (Fast Five) as Wall Street, Ric Young (Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom) as Mr. Kwai, and the film was directed by Cory Yuen. Now let’s check out some stats before we get into the review of the film:

stathamThis was definitely one of my favorite Statham action flicks that he made that features so many famous scenes like the oil slick fight scene that he has with the bike pedals on his feet. The creativity is what I love about action flicks because there always trying to top what has already been done before it. Statham has about 37 kills/knockouts in the film, but he has no origin story other than he was some sort of special forces. The girl he discovers in his trunk ends up being his love interest and she ends up getting recaptured by the bad guy, but she is not harmed. He does have a sexual conquest with said female and he defeats one of the bosses, but she ends up killing the main boss. The film has plenty of explosions and ass kickings that will please any true martial arts/action fan in the world. The cinematography is excellent as well as they get some real exciting shots like the airplane jump and some cool underwater scenes as well. I apologize about the title shot I used for the above paragraph, but apparently I was watching the French version of the film in English and that is all I could do. There are two more films in the series that get creative and I just learned that they are shamefully rebooting the series with someone else acting as Frank Martin. These are the choices that Hollywood makes, not me. I am giving this film four fists out of five for a final grade.
