slayerThis is a special single of the week post as everything in my world came to a screeching halt when I saw that Slayer had released a new single for all of us to hear. The band is releasing the track When The Stillness Comes as a special 7″ vinyl release for Record Store Day this Saturday April 18TH which also happens to be a picture disc as well. According to a posting on the Youtube page of the video, it says the vinly will, “The single’s A-side features the image of a blood-stained skull with the band’s name carved into it, while the flipside sports an inverted cross and a live version of their song “Black Magic” – originally released on their 1983 debut, Show No Mercy – that they recorded at Germany’s Wacken festival last year. The single is limited to 5,000 copies and will be available only at the participating stores listed on the Record Store Day website on April 18th.” The track is definitely evil and it has it’s moments of brilliance and it has that Slayer sound to it which will please a lot of Slayer fans. It starts with the evil and melodic Slayer riff before hell is unleashed on to all of us. Kerry King says he was in a pissed off mood when he wrote the track, “We were touring Europe and we had a three-hour ride in some f—ing minivan, and I’m just miserable in the backseat, not into anything. So I just started jotting down hateful thoughts. It’s about a dude who wakes up at a crime scene and realizes he’s killed everybody. It’s really cool.” Check out the track below:
