A double shot of sorts this week as far as the blog and Chris Cornell are concerned, but we have good reason to have him on again. I could go through a whole list of amazing songs that were the theme songs for all the various James Bond films and tell you which ones are my favorite, but I’m not doing that right now. However, I will say that there are three thinsg that ar highly anticipated when it comes to Bond films and those are 1. who is the villain? 2. who is the Bond girl(s)?, and 3 is the theme song any good? We’ve seen Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Adele, Garbage, Sheena Easton, and so many more do the theme songs. In 2006, as they were preparing to introduce the world to Daniel Craig as James Bond, Chris Cornell provided the them song for the film Casino Royale with the song You Know My Name. For the song, he worked with composer David Arnold who wanted to the song to reflect the score of the film. You get just that with this track which has that score feel to it while still be an absolute rocker. Cornell talked about the difficulties of writing the song saying, “It is difficult, I think, to write lyrics for a character, so really I just kind of wandered around for about a month not thinking about it too much, until I sort of formulated some idea of a way that I could approach it, where I’m kind of relating to what’s in the character in the movie. And because this particular Bond is very edgy, but also has a lot of emotional depth, it’s a lot easier.” The song is absolutely amazing and truly one of my favorites. Check it out below and look out for Spectre in November:
