Billboard metal 2I have been so pleased lately with the metal and rock world considering all of the albums that charted from Slayer’s Repentless, Disturbed’s Immortalized, Motorhead’s Bad Magic and so many more. Well, metal and rock has done it once again this week as Atreyu came out with their first album since 2009 in Long Live, The Black Dahlia Murder with Abysmal, and Shinedown with Threat To Survival. For The Black Dahlia Murder, their latest effort Abysmal debuts at 45 on The Billboard Top 200 charts, #28 on the Top 200 Current, #15 on the Rock Albums charts, and #10 on the Independent Album charts. For Atreyu, Long Live debuts at #26 on The Billboard Top 200 charts, #17 on the current albums charts, #9 on the rock charts, and #5 on the Independent albums charts. Shinedown’s new effort debuts at 6 on the Top 200 charts, #2 on the rock album charts, and #5 on the Billboard Top albums charts. I read an article by Doc Coyle that said we should be celebrating the fact that some old bands are making the charts just as much as new bands. Well, I say that we should be united in the fact that rock and metal albums are making the charts in a world dominated by pop, rap, and cookie cutter pop acts. We have to keep the metal and rock genre’s alive and we definitely can’t do that divided. Congratulations to all three bands on making the charts.
