brick mansionsI hope that everyone is happy that Ass Whoopin Wednesday has finally returned after taking a week off due to comic books coming out on a Wednesday. For this weeks film, I wanted to do a film that featured a tag team of sorts if that is what you want to call it. I also wanted to review the film Brick Mansions because it was the last film to be released that Paul Walker (The Fast And The Furious) completed. In the film, Paul Walker plays a cop named Damien in a future Detriot that is kind of in the shambles, but his ultimate goal is to enter Brick Mansions to go after it’s furious leader Tremaine (RZA). You see Brick Mansions is a zone that has been walled up to prevent the lowest of criminals from entering the rest of Detriot. Inside Brick Mansions also lies a man named Lino (David Belle) who is looking to clean up Brick Mansions of it’s drugs so he does whatever it takes. Although, he’ll be on a mission to get Tremaine after he kidnapped his girlfriend Lola (Catalina Denis). The two of them will hook up for the common goal when they are told by the Mayor that Tremaine has a bomb that could destroy the city so they’ll have to get to him to stop it. The film also stars Gouchy Boy (Max Payne) as K2, Ayisha Issa (Immortals) as Rayzah, Richard Zeman (The Score) as Major Reno, Robert Maillet (300) as Yeti, Bruce Ramsay (Hellraiser: Bloodline) as Mayor, and the film was directed by Camille Delamarre (Taken 2). Now before we get into the review of the film let’s check out some stats:

Brick Mansions Stats

brickI am surprised that I waited this long to see this movie because it was actually very entertaining. It’s sad to know that this is the last of Paul Walker that we will ever see in our lifetimes and I love the tribute pic to him at the end of the film. As far as the stats are concerned we will start with Lino as he accumulated 24 1/2 kills/knockouts with the half being a guy both he and Paul defeated. He has no origin story to speak of in the film other than that he has lived there most of his life. He does have a love interest from what you can see in the above paragraph because she gets kidnapped. I’ll answer the big boss question after we get into Paul’s stats. As far as Damien’s stats are concerned, he finished the film with 28 1/2 kills/knockouts bringing the team total to 53. He sort of has an origin story and it’s one that drives his character on this mission to go after Tremaine, but I won’t give it away. He has a girl at his home that you see briefly, but I just decided to answer that with a no because she doesn’t get hurt. I put a question mark next to his because we don’t see it happen in the film, but its implied to us. Now as far as the big boss is concerned, it will blow your mind as to who he really is and I am just going to leave it at that. There is a lot of action in the film and plenty of ass kicking to satisfy any action fan. One of the cool things about this film is their utilization of Parkour in the film which was something different and it gave us some pretty cool stunts. This is definitely a must see film if you are a fan of Paul Wallker, Parkour, or just something different and you can’t mess with RZA as a villain. I am going to give the film four fists out of five for a final grade.
