For today’s Cover Of The Week, we are honoring the Eagles late guitarist Glenn Frey who passed away yesterday so I decided to choose a cover of an Eagles track for today. In 2002, legendary country singer and guitarist Johnny Cash, the original man in black, released the album American IV: The Man Comes Around which was mostly an album of covers. One of the covers that Johnny performs on the album is the Eagles track Desperado which was written by Glenn Frey and Don Henley. The track was originally an all piano track, but for the cover, it was done mostly with acoustic guitars and it’s a beautiful cover. The track is amazing to begin with and Johnny Cash makes it even more beautiful by adding his touch to it. The American IV album is great as it features covers of Nine Inch Nails, Paul Simon, Sting, Roberta Flack, as well as some Johnny Cash originals. Enjoy the song and remember these two legends. R.I.P. Glenn Frey and Johnny Cash.
