For this week’s cover of the week, we look to an unlikely source for the material and we are talking about the legendary Heart. Heart is one of those bands that never got enough credit especially Ann Wilson who had an amazing vocal range. There was one band who was daring enough to take a track from Heart to cover and they picked an awesome, but difficult track.¬†Janne Viljami Wirman (or as he is affectionately known as Warman), you may know him as the keyboard player for Finnish metal band Children Of Bodom, but what you probably didn’t know is that he had a side project that he created called Warmen. They were a band that played mostly instrumentals with an occasional guest vocalist on a couple of tracks. In 2002, he decided to cover a track from Heart’s 80’s catalog in the song Alone with Kimberly Goss (vocalist for Sinergy) as the guest vocalist on the album Beyond Abilities. While, I have to agree with a lot of the critics in saying that she doesn’t exactly have the vocal range that Ann has, but she does a good job with it. The music for the cover is amazing as they turn the track into a power metal/ballad song. Check out the track for yourself and be the judge:
