Just like last week, we are giving you two singles of the week with one being on the rock side while the other is on the metal side. I am super excited for this week’s rock side of the single of the week because it comes from the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers. It’s been quite some time since the last time we heard any new music from the band and now they have answered your prayers. The band has a new record called The Getaway which comes out June 17TH and it’s available on Vinyl, Cassette, CD, and digitally of course (check them out here). The band has also unveiled the first single off the record entitled Dark Necessities which starts off very differently than any thing we had heard before from the group. A Very melodic intro, but never fear because Flea’s bass playing comes right in and drives the track along with Anthony Kiedis’s vocals. The track is absolutely amazing and I love the direction the band heads in with this track. They are always re-inventing themselves and they do it flawlessly . Last year in an interview, Anthony Kiedis talked about the album saying, “We’ve been writing new music for the last year, and we’ve written some songs that I feel are as good as any songs we’ve ever written. We’re just dying to play the new songs — but we can’t, because every single human has a recording device on them at all times.” He went on to talk about producer Danger Mouse saying, “He’s very good about coming up with super-modern ideas, but he’ll also touch on the acoustic guitar in the control room and strip the song down to its acoustic essentials, which is a beautiful place to be.” Check out the track below:
