hqdefaultOver the course of the last thirty years or more, we have seen countless celebrities, athletes, and other form of entertainers enter the music world from Eddie Murphy to Shaquille O’Neal, Juliette Lewis, and even the one and only William Shatner. I am one that believes that only a select few can leave their own domain and be successful in one that people are not familiar with. When I say that they are a select few, I truly mean it because the only ones I can think of are Jared Leto (30 Seconds To Mars) and AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho who in 1999 decided to venture into the world of metal with the rhythm section of Stuck Mojo to form Fozzy. Chris Jericho who is the band’s lead singer has described the band which is made up of Rich Ward (Lead Guitar/Keys), Frank “Bud” Fontsere (Drums), Billy Grey (Rhythm Guitar), and Randy Drake (Bass) saying, “If Metallica and Journey had a bastard child, it would be Fozzy.” On October 13, 2017, the band would release their seventh studio album Judas which was the band’s third to chart on the Billboard Top 200 peaking at 147 with the lead single and title track being a minor radio hit.

I just love the big bass/guitar slam power chord style mixed with the melodic in this track about someone who can’t help but sell people out. He is addicted to success and will do anything to get it. 5/5

2. Drinkin’ With Jesus– A big time Saliva style Nu Metal track here in this song that is all about someone who is addicted to the excesses of life on the road. 4.5/5

3. Painless– Almost the same style as Judas as far as the sound is concerned in this track that is all about how drugs can make death seem painless. 4.5/5

4. Weight of My World– The track almost has an industrial dance rock feel to it in this track that I think is about whether or not you can handle someone who is destructive and unapologetic about it. 3.5/5

5. Wordsworth Way-a track that while it has some heavy elements to it, they mix the keys along with it in this track that is all about someone that Chris must have lost that he was really close with. 4.5/5

fozzy-judas-cd_1_9eb7d519040caea3771990d52e2cbc506. Burn Me Out-a kind of groove metal track with a little bit of a dance flow to it that is all about living life to the fullest because you don’t want to have any regrets. 4.5/5

7.  Three Days in Jail-a Nu metal track all the way through featuring Hyro The Hero rapping on the song as well in a track about he miseries of being locked up. 4/5

8. Elevator-Kind of a funky track that I honestly think is just a track about getting high. I could be wrong, but judge for yourself. 4/5

9. Running with the Bulls-a cool track that I think is talking about how you have to just keep running forward and not in reverse and just ride with the bulls. 4.5/5

10. Capsized-a track that is all about how when we fail at something, we sort of feel capsized because we usually just give up and never continue moving forward. 4.5/5

11. Wolves at Bay– an in your face metal track that ends the album that is all about no matter what, you can not give up and you have to keep those that always trying to push you down at bay. 4.5/5

My Final Thoughts– This was a decent album from Jericho and co., but I can definitely see why it didn’t sell as much as the previous album. My favorite songs are Judas and Wolves At Bay while my least favorite is Weight Of My World. So, I am giving the album 4.36 stars out of five for a final grade.
