I-Loved-You-At-Your-Darkest2018 has been a weird year because it’s been a year where we are seeing many things we love in the music industry come to an end. Slayer is calling it quits after 35 years in the business, The Warped Tour is coming to end this year, and Ozzy Osbourne is starting his retirement tour this year as well. A very interesting question was raised the other day with all of these bands calling it quits who will rise to be the next headliners? I believe that I have the answer and one of them is certainly Polish blackened death metal band Behemoth. After touring successfully on 2014’s The Satanist and taking some time off, the band is back with a vengeance in the form of a new album and single for all of us to enjoy. On October 5TH, Behemoth will be releasing their 11TH studio album in I Loved You At Your Darkest and to help celebrate the big news the band has unleashed a new single and a video for it. The name of the track is God = Dog and the music is bold as Behemoth flex their musical muscles at first before launching into an all out metal assault. The music video itself is very bold and if you are religious in any way shape or form then you may not want to view this as Nergal reenacts the crucifixion of Christ. The video itself is visually stunning, but it’s a very bold move against Christianity with all of the imagery that appears. The track is bad ass and it’s an example of what is to come. If you want to pre-order the album, you can do so here. Check out the video below:

Pedal Cup Bracket 2 FINALS CHAMPIONThe dust has finally cleared and we have a clear cut winner by a mile and there is nothing controversial about the win. BABYMETAL won the match fair and square with the power of their fan base. I’ve seen this happen over the years during the Pedal To The Metal Tournaments when the fan bases of Kreator, Destruction, and Queensryche all led them to be winners. I post a link of the tournament to every single band’s page giving everyone a equal shot at winning and they did just that beating Behemoth 334 to 80. I gave everyone three options on how to vote and the fan base killed it and showed up in style for sure. It was definitely one heck of a win for the Japanese Kawaii Metal band, but that wasn’t the only match you could vote on. We also had the third place match that saw the final four runner ups Moonspell take on Morbid Angel. Moonspell jumped out to an early lead and believe me they never looked back earning them a third place finish. It’s sad that this is over for now and it won’t be until 2022 until we do another one, but we have the Euros coming up in two years so we’ll see you there. Once again, Congratulations to BABYMETAL!

BABYMETAL CHAMPIONS

BOX SCORE BABY VS BEHEMOTHBOX SCORE MOON VS MORBID

pedalcup trophyThat is right metal heads, the finals of the first ever Pedal Cup (the World Cup of Metal) is here and this is the moment you have been voting for. You the fans, took two bands in Behemoth (Poland) and BABYMETAL (Japan) and you voted them all the way to the finals and it was quite the run for both bands. Unfortunately, only one of them will walk away from the tournament as the first ever Pedal Cup champion. We also have the third place match which is traditionally played in the FIFA World Cup and we are going to keep that tradition as Portugals’ Moonspell take son US Death Metal legends Morbid Angel for the right to Bronze. Today, we are also revealing the Pedal Cup trophy which we dedicated and designed some specifics of it to honor the legacy of one of music and Metal’s greatest inspirations in the late Motorhead Frontman/bassist Lemmy Kilmister. There is a Spade from the Ace Of Spades on the top of the trophy along with a coin of Lemmy on the bottom and the Pedal To The Metal logo beneath that. As always, there are three ways to vote with one being on the Facebook page, the other on Twitter, and the last way to vote right here on this blog. You have 24 Hours to decide who is the first ever Pedal Cup Champion and the third place band. Good luck!!!!

You guys came to play in the knockout stage, once again in the quarterfinals, and I want to thank every single one of you guys for that because without you none of this is possible. Now we have some interesting matches moving forward as the final four was set last night. We have Moonspell (Portugal), BABYMETAL (Japan), Morbid Angel (USA), and Behemoth (Poland) all eyeing to be the world champions of Metal. Moonspell has done pretty well for themselves as they easily defeated Egypt’s Crescent before holding the edge against Dimmu Borgir in the Quarterfinals. Now, they are tasked with trying to defeat the band who has recorded the most amount of votes in the tourney in Japan’s BABYMETAL. BABYMETAL scored a record amount of votes in their first match against Belgium’s Leng Tch’e (44 votes total) before surviving one heck of a match against Brazil’s own Sepultura (34 votes combined). The other match features two powerhouses of their respective subgenres. In one corner, you have Death Metal legends Morbid Angel who is the only band to record two straight shut out wins going against Blackened Death Metal act Behemoth who took care of business against Cradle Of Filth and Arch Enemy. It’s anyone’s ball game, but remember you guys have 24 HRS to vote, so vote for the bands you love and have some fun with it. As always, there are three ways to vote with one being on the Facebook page, the other on Twitter, and the last way to vote right here on this blog.

635297If you knew the process I have been going through to find unsigned metal and rock bands from all over the country, most would probably quit, but I am determined. We have visited a lot of states already, but now we are about to go back to southwest United States as we park the tour bus in Albuquerque, New Mexico to check out a Blackened Death Metal act that took me some time to find. The band I am talking about goes by the name of Deforme who in 2016 released their first full length album in God-Like Strength. The track That I am showcasing for you guys off the album is the seventh track Dianetics which right when it kicks in you will notice the brilliance of the duel guitar attack as well as the amazing bass playing from Blair Robey. Juan Martinez’s vocals are as intense as the lyrics and the music itself as he helps drive the song forward. These guys need to be snatched up and signed as they have proven themselves playing with such heavies as Overkill, Nile, Soulfly, and so many more. Check them out on Facebook, give them a like, and check out their music. Check out the track Dianetics below:

2017-headerIt’s the sixth annual Pedal To The Metal Tournament which has been constantly evolving from what it was in the beginning (an all 80’s rock/metal tourney) to what it is now where we check out the best of all metal that is current and active. Active is the key word in the sentence because in order to qualify for the tournament, you had to have either released an album within the last three to four years or are actively touring all the time. Two of the division have changed in which now the Ronnie James Dio division is now The Dio/Lemmy Division as the old Lemmy division changed to the Metal To The Core (play on Metal-core and Deathcore) division. That division features everyone from the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal to any active Metalcore or Deathcore acts. The tournament is going to kick off as usual because the tournament coincides with the actual March Madness Tourney except we’ve shortened a round and extended another one. The tournament begins March 17TH right here and goes all the way until April 4TH. Below you will the bracket for the tourney and all of the match ups that we have for you. As always, the matches were drawn from a hat so that the matches were totally random. There are some really interesting matches so it’ll be fun to see how you guys vote. Be ready to start voting on March 17TH!!!

downloadOne of the brash and most unapologetic musicians in the world in Adam Darski a.k.a. Nergal of Polish Blackened Death Metal act Behemoth has some thing a little different that he is releasing to the world. While being in a folk/alternative/indie band may not be what fans of his imagined would be next, his newest project Me and That Man is something you just cannot pass up on. I have always been a big fan of the American Recordings of Johnny Cash, the mellower Danzig tracks, and I just discovered a love for Leonard Cohen and that is exactly what you get with Me and That Man and their new music video for the track Ain’t Much Loving. The video is mostly a performance based video whose visuals match the tone of the audio where it’s very mellow and dark. Nergal talked about the project to Noisey saying, “With Me and That Man, the songs just come out in a very organic way. One would be bluesy, one would be more of a ballad, but put together they all made sense. I need Me and That Man to keep the balance, as the potential of my mother band seems limitless. It gets bigger and bigger, more advanced and more sophisticated… and darker …and blacker, but Me and That Man is at the opposite pole, artistically speaking. With all the best art, once you have it in you, you have to release it, otherwise it becomes intoxicating and dangerous to your own system. This is how I deal with my emotions and my dark feelings and shadows. This is not happy music, but it’s liberating.” I think this is an album that everyone should check out on March 24TH when Songs Of Love And Death is released via Cooking Vinyl.
