b-mco-chris-vs-chris_nvy1Listen, I know I am not crazy and I also know that the next Superbowl (which is Superbowl LI) isn’t going to happen for another 274 days (from todays date May 7TH), but there were just too many factors that played a part in me thinking about it. First of all, this weekend saw the official release of Captain America: Civil War (read review here) into theaters and it also happens to be Free Comic Book Day which saw the release of Civil War II as well as a Captain America comic. So with all of this in my face constantly, it made me remember a bet that was waged during SuperBowl 49 between Chris Evans (Captain America) and Chris Pratt (Star Lord) an they called it Superhero Bowl 49 as Pratt was a Seattle Seahawks fan and Evans a New England Patriots fan. I don’t know why one wasn’t down for last years SuperBowl, but I would love to see it return once again. They made an incredible T-Shirt with proceeds going to charity and they dressed in character for each other’s charities. It was all fun and it was for great causes.

marvel_cinematic_universe_timeline_by_darkmudkip6-d9jhxzl copySo, I thought of a list of teams that I would love to see make the next SuperBowl in hopes that there is an actor from that city that plays a Marvel character. Anthony Mackie, the man who plays Falcon represents The New Orleans Saints. Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow), and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) all can represent whatever team from the New York/New Jersey area (Jets or Giants). Don Cheadle who plays War Machine represents the Kansas City Chiefs while Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) could represent either the Oakland Raiders or the San Francisco 49ERS (depending on his preference). Chadwick Boseman is from South Carolina so it would be interesting to see what team he picks whether it be Carolina or any of the teams near by. If we go beyond the film, there’s Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) who can represent the Green Bay Packers and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Dave Bautista (Drax) could represent the Washington Redskins. Vin Diesel who plays Groot could also represent either Oakland or San Fran while Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon) could represent the Philadelphia Eagles. If we go into the television universe of Marvel, Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) could represent the Washington Redskins while Kristen Ritter (Jessica Jones) could represent either the Eagles or the Pittsburgh Steelers (depending on her preference). Meanwhile Mike Colter (Luke Cage) is just like Chadwick Boseman where it depends on his preference as he is also from South Carolina. So, keep all of these options in mind once the football season starts and hopefully they bring back Superhero Bowl once again.

jurassic worldI have to open the discussion by admitting to all of you out there that I had never fully seen any of the original three films that were released back in the day. So, I was going into Jurassic World not knowing what to expect out of it, but I was keeping an open mind. The film takes place 22 years after the events of the first Jurassic Park film on the island of Ilsa Nublar. The island now features a fully functional Dinosaur theme park called Jurassic World that would have made John Hammond proud that his vision was carried out. The only problem is that the park’s attendance rate is very low so withe help of Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong), they create a new hybrid dinosaur that is bigger and badder than any dinosaur in history to try and attract more visitors. The only problem is that the whole thing goes horribly wrong as the new dinosaur is loose in the park creating havoc. The film stars Chris Pratt (Guardians Of The Galaxy) as Owen, Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village) as Claire, Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3) as Gray,  Vincent D’Onofrio (Escape Plan) as Hoskins, Jake Johnson (Let’s Be Cops) as Lowery, Nick Robinson (Melissa & Joey) as Zach, Irrfan Khan (The Life Of Pi) as Simon Masrani, Omar Sy (X-Men: Days Of Future Past) as Barry, Judy Greer (Archer) as Karen, Brian Tee (The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift) as Hamada, Andy Buckley (The Heat) as Scott, Lauren Lupkus (Blended) as Vivian, and the film was directed by Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed).

jurassic-world-raptors-fb1What can I say about this film that probably hasn’t already been said before? One thing is for sure and that is Chris Pratt to me was masterful as he truly mastered the art of being both a badass and funny in one film. You get the Starlord character, but as a dinosaur whisperer which is kind of cool. He has a lot of great scenes in the film like the picture you see to the left of this paragraph and so much more. The film has plenty of action in it and plenty of suspense as you sit there in fear as to who is going to be eaten by the Indominus Rex which is the hybrid dinosaur they are trying to figure out throughout the whole film what he is made up of. The park looks like a zoo mashed up with sea world and there are traces of the first film within this one that you should definitely look out for. I was definitely thoroughly impressed with everything about this film considering it was the first film in the franchise that I have been able to watch. The cinematography was amazing, the acting was great, and the editing was superb as well as the writing. If you are going to wait 20 years to make a sequel or another film, then take notes from this one. A lot of franchises could learn a thing or two about how to execute a comeback. I am going to give this film an A for a final grade as 2015 truly has been an amazing year for films so far. Note: look out for the epic fight scene in the last part of the film, it’s epic.

movie 43 cheeseball cinemaFor a very long time, I had wanted to see the film Movie 43 which is an ode to anthology comedy films like The Kentucky Fried Movie which had previously reviewed for Cheeseball Cinema and so I figured why not today. Dennis Quaid (Dreamscape) plays Charles Wessler, a man who is looking to pitch his movie ideas to a studio head named Griffin (Greg Kinnear). He starts to tell him some of his stories, but Griffin feels their too offensive and wants to kick him out. So, Charles holds him at gunpoint and he continues to pitch ideas like the iBabe which is basically a naked hot girl who also happens to be an ipod, Robin (Justin Long) tries speed dating, but Batman (Jason Sudeikis) is always there to bust his balls, a man (Chris Pratt) gets a proposition from his girlfriend (Anna Faris) which involves crapping on her, a girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) unfortunately gets her first period while on a date in front of a bunch of moron guys, a game of truth or dare that goes terribly the wrong way, and a girl(Kate Winslet) who finds out her blind date (Hugh Jackman) has balls on his chin. The film also stars Emma Stone (Birdman), Common (Run All Night), Seth MacFarlane (Ted), Richard Gere (Pretty Woman), Halle Berry (Losing Isiah), Naomi Watts (The Ring), Liev Schreiber (Defiance), J.B. Smooth (The Sitter), Kieran Culkin (Home Alone 2), Kate Bosworth (Still Alice),  Jack McBrayer (Wreck It Ralph), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Katrina Bowden (Tucker & Dale Vs Evil), Johnny Knoxville (Bad Grandpa), Sean William Scott (American Pie), Gerard Butler (Law Abiding Citizen), and the film features segments directed by people like Elizabeth Banks, James Duffy, Brett Ratner, James Gunn, Peter Farrelly, and many more.

Cathy CliftenThis film is actually pretty brilliant even though a lot of its segments are absolutely absurd like homeschooled which is just creepy at times. One of my favorite segments and by far the bets one on there is definitely the truth or dare game. Once they start daring each other and they go to war on it, they have some of the funniest segments and bits in it and we have Peter Farrelly to thank for that one. There is plenty of T&A in this film thanks to both iBabe segments that are included in the film and my second favorite segment would be the super hero speed dating which you can pretty much figure out who did that out of the ones I named above. The film has a lot of star power in it which may have been the attractive side of the film that sold everyone, but they actually work and a lot off them truly are funny. I definitely recommend this film for anyone who is fan of such films like this and too bad there weren’t too many of these around. Well, If you’re a horror fan then you’ll definitely enjoy the ABC’s Of Death franchise because they do that with 26 directors. Nevertheless, it’s kind of a waste that it’s here, but we’ve gone this far, now it’s time to grade it. On a scale of one being close to an A-List Hollywood film and five being the cheesiest film of all time, I am going to give this film a 1.2 for a final grade. Check it out on Netflix right now!

eddies-top-5It’s kind of sad how a story is hot in the news, but as soon as something else comes up, it’s yesterdays news. I was amazed watching the news yesterday at how true that statement was when they were reviewing the news reported for 2014. Nevertheless, it’s out of our hands and not really worth talking about all that much because that is just the way things are done in the media. So, I decided for today that you were going to get some of my top 5’s of 2014 and I want to start with movies because I went and saw a boatload of films this year in the cinema. This list pertains to no particular genre, just my top 5 movies of 2014.

5. The Lego Movie– I thought this was going to be absolute crap before I checked it out, but Chris Pratt is on top of the world in 2014. This was funny and very enjoyable to watch as you see so many different Lego characters and lands in one film. I’m hoping for a sequel.

4. Birdman– I have this film on this list just for the mere fact that it had some amazing cinematography and Michael Keaton was amazing. He was telling us subconsciously after all that he is the only Batman we ever needed to know except he’s Birdman in this film plus Edward Norton was amazing.

3. Fury– I’m not particularly sure how historically accurate this film really is, but man wasn’t this movie absolutely bad ass. I’m not a huge fan of war movies, but this one was definitely worth watching. Brad Pitt throws a very similar performance to the one he did in Inglorious Basterds, but on the more serious side. All of the guys in this film like Shia LaBeouf, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, and Logan Lerman all deserve a round of applause for their great performances.

2. 22 Jump Street– I don’t care what anyone says about this film, but this was my favorite movie of 2014 and by far the best comedy of 2014 in my opinion. If you are going to write a sequel to a comedy classic, then watch this film and take notes because this is how it’s done.

1. Guardians Of The Galaxy– All I have to say about this film is that it is the greatest superhero movie ever made. The best cast, the best special effects, and the best soundtrack.

Honorable Mention- Nightcrawler, Boyhood, A Walk Among The Tombstones, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Captain America: Winter Soldier and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
