ghostFor years, we have bantering and bickering about just how the National Academy Of Recording Arts And Sciences just didn’t get rock or metal. For years, they have fumbled the award and shamelessly given it out to acts who didn’t deserve like Tenacious D or even Jethro Tull. It’s not that I do not respect those bands, they just didn’t deserve the award over some of the acts that were nominated. This year, it looked as if the Grammy’s were finally getting it right when they nominated some heavy hitters for Best Metal Performance. They nominated Ghost (Cirice), August Burns Red (Identity), Lamb Of God (512), Sevendust (Thank You), and Slipknot (Custer). The other thing that bothered me the most about the award is that they never televised it, so it was always a why bother watch the show if they do not respect your genre. This year that all temporarily changed as the award was not only given to a deserving band, but it was also televised. Ghost won the award for their track Cirice which is off of their amazing album Meloira (read the review here) and they accepted the award on stage.

ghost 2The only sad thing that I saw all night was the awful interviewers on the red carpet that asked the dumbest questions. “What is your band’s overall image about?” was one of the dumb questions asked by someone who has no idea who the band is. CBS needs to hire better interviewers for their red carpet who are more diverse in music which makes it better for everyone. The Grammy’s can be an opportunity for a band to expand on their fan base, a platform so to speak. Nevertheless, congratulations are in order for Ghost on the big win. Some of the other bands that didnt fair as well were the Foo Fighters who were nominated for Best Rock Performance and didn’t win and Slipknot for Best Rock Album which they also didn’t win. Check out Ghost accepting the award below and check them out giving thanks as well.

ghost 2Everyone’s favorite Satanic rock band is back with a brand new video for the song From The Pinnacle To The Pit which is a track that is about the fall of Satan from Heaven to hell. The track is the second single from the bands third album Meliora and it’s definitely one of my favorites on the record. The band was able to connect it’s third album with horror in the fact that the artwork for this single paid tribute to King Kong while Cirice paid tribute to The Silence Of The Lambs. While the music video for Cirice did the same as well, the newest video for this track pays tribute to Metropolis and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. The video is actually pretty cool as it starts with a boy who is sent to the principle’s office where the principle shows him how o harness the power of God. After he accomplishes everything, he begins to hate who he is and what he has become so he revolts and eventually becomes Papa Emeritus III. The band truly makes watching music videos fun again as it has a story to go with the music. Check out the video below and enjoy!!!

It has been a busy week and day for everyone’s favorite Satanic rock band Ghost as we already saw the release of a brand new music video for Cirice (which you can check out here). Now that’s besides the fact that we’ve already see the unveiling of Papa Emeritus III (which can be seen here) as well as the information on the third album Meliora (Which can also be seen here), but the band also has some pretty impressive pre-order bundles which you can view here. Now the band has also announced a North American tour called The Black To The Future Tour that begins in late September with Purson as the supporting act and this promises to be one heck of a tour so do not miss it. Check out all the tour dates below in the poster.

Screen-Shot-2015-06-08-at-11.36.21-AMLast week was a busy week for everyone’s favorite 70’s esque satanic rock band Ghost (Ghost BC in the states) as they revealed the new Papa Emeritus III as well as the new album and a single. The album is called Meliora and the first single they unleashed was for the song Cirice, but that’s not all. The band has just unveiled the new music video for the same track and it’s a good one. Since the band first started making videos they kept it to the same style as their music which it’s retro and cool as hell. The video starts with a little girl going into a school with either her sister or mother and the sign says that it’s a talent show. Then a bunch of kids dressed as The Nameless Ghouls and Papa Emeritus III step on stage and they shock the crowd as the girl becomes more mesmerized by the band. Eventually, she freaks out and pulls a Carrie as all the doors in the auditorium slam shut. The video is pretty cool and the music is amazing so check it out below:

ciriceThis is the moment all fans of Ghost BC have all been waiting for and that was the unveiling of the brand new single from the band called Cirice from their new album Meliora which is due out August 21ST via Loma Vista Recordings. I tried to look up what Cirice meant and the only thing I could find was that it meant Church or Lord’s (House) in Ancient Greek. As I mentioned before in the Rock And Metal News piece yesterday (May 30TH), the band teased some information during a commercial break of VH1’s showing of Caddyshack and they teased that there would be a new album, but most importantly on June 3RD, Papa Emeritus III would be revealed to the world. They followed on their promise of a new single and I have to say that it kicks ass. The track still showcases their ability to be that eerie atmospheric band in the beginning of the track before The Nameless Ghouls bring their brand of metal assault to the track. The band in my opinion sounds better than ever and Papa Emeritus III sounds on top of his game as well. If you want to download the single for free, all you have to do is visit their website here. Otherwise enjoy the music below and be on the lookout for anything else the band releases from now until August 21ST.

It is with great pleasure to report some awesome information for fans of Alt-Metal pioneers Faith No More because released some awesome news that leaves me hopeful for the rock and metal genre. Faith No More released their first album since 1997’s Album of The Year in Sol Invictus and they now have a number one album with it. According to, the band’s album debuts at number one on the hard rock albums chart, number two on the Top Rock rock albums charts, and number 15 on the Billboard Top 200 with 31,000 sold in the first week. This is an amazing thing for the band as they return to the scene on top of the game. I did a review of the album for the album of the week which you can find by going here. Otherwise, go to the store and pick up this album because you will not regret it.

“In this uncensored, unfiltered memoir, the musician and former frontman for Skid Row tells the story of how a choir boy became a mega-successful hair metal god, rode the wave of fame in heavy metal’s heyday, and came out alive on the other side when glam rock went the way of the cassette tape and the Walkman.” That is the official description for the newest addition to your rock autobiography collection as Sebastian Bach recently announced that he will be releasing his official memoir titled 18 and Life on Skid Row. The book will be officially released on January 19. 2016 which is also yours truly’s birthday. I now know what to get for my birthday and I can add this to the Heavy Metal Book Report as soon as I get to read it. Recently Bach offered this insight into what he believes is the reason for the reunion not happening in the form of Rachel Bolan, “I’ve talked to all of those guys except the bass player, and he is the one that has it in for me. But I haven’t given that guy any reason to dislike me in 19 years.”

unnamedFormer Iron Maiden frontman Paul Di’Anno has struggled over the years with drug addiction, but the man perservered and got sober. The only thing is he had a little motivation to do as he credits his family with helping him with that decision. He says, “As much as what harm drugs cause you, what they do to your family is worse. I have seen a lot of people lose everything they had money, a home and even their family because of drugs and feel it’s not worth it. The reality is that you can never be completely cured of them. Even today, I am in recovery. There are moments I slip too, but then feel twice as guilty later. It is my children who have pushed me to stay off drugs and I will do it for them.” The only thing I can say to Paul is good luck in the future and take it one day at a time.

Children-of-BodomIn some other shocking news, Children Of Bodom made a big announcement regarding their line up as they had to let go of someone in the band. Children Of Bodom, the Finnish metal band announced that they let go of guitarist Roope Latvala as the band made the announcement on their Facebook page. They said, “As we parted ways with no bad blood, we wish him nothing but the best and thank him for allowing us to share the last twelve years of our lives with him. [We] hope [the fans] know that this will not affect the upcoming shows or the new album as we recorded it as a four-piece and it is already mixed, mastered, heavy as s–t and ready to go!” I don’t think the band has announced who will officially replace him, but they are currently working on a new record and they head out on tour in June which you can see here.
