8th annual me awardsIt is that time of the year where we begin celebrating all the best of the previous year and as usual, we here at Moshpits and Movies are once again handling the music and movie side of the awards. We are unfortunately not working together with 365 Movies Challenge blog any longer, but we have reacquired Mr. X’s Punch Out who will handle the wrestling side of things. For right now though, we are looking at the music side of the awards which is now in it’s eighth year and we are pretty excited. Besides the usual awards for Album of the Year, Metal Album of the Year, etc., we have added a couple of new categories to the awards which are Cover of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Every year, there are plenty of bands that record covers of famous songs they love from bands and we want to celebrate by voting for the best one. Much like cover of the year, there are always new bands that pop onto our radar and we want to celebrate them as well. We tried our best to not include supergroups, but rather if it’s their current and only focus then they are allowed. So, now we just want to hear from YOU guys and see who you pick to win each award. You have until March 13TH to decide so choose wisely and just have some fun.

We are back on the tour bus and we are leaving Georgia and we are heading to the blue grass state of Kentucky for this week’s Unsigned Band Of The Week and for good reason. The band that we are covering this week is currently ranked the number one band in Kentucky on ReverbNation and they are coming to us from Danville, Kentucky, we are talking about Creature Of Exile. If you love old school Thrash Metal mixed with elements of Death Metal and Groove then this is the band for you because that is what Creature Of Exile bring to the table. At one time, the band beat out two nationally signed acts in Puddle of Mudd and Halestorm when they finished number three on Killer Radio’s top five of 2012 meaning these guys are the real deal. The song I chose for you guys today is the title track from the band’s newest album Age of Annihilation which by the way is out now. The song is just pure intensity right from the start with the razor fast shredding by John Massey and Jerrod Messick who have the task of combining their influences into the track which they do brilliantly. You can hear the elements of thrash incorporated with the death metal playing and the blast beats from drummer Eric Lyons and those awesome guttural vocals from Johnny Martin. This is definitely a band you want to check out and hopefully someone snags them up real soon. Give them a like on Facebook and check out their Reverbnation page while you’re at it.

This particular post is for the movie side and the rest of the awards we are giving out like Superhero TV Show Of The Year (1st Time), Male Wrestler Of The Year, Female Wrestler Of The Year, etc. Some of the awards you can expect from the movie side are some of the usual’s like Movie Of The Year, Bad ass Movie Of The Year, Horror film of the year, Cameo Of The Year, and more. We have some surprises in some of the categories that may throw you off, but we felt that they were the best of the year. Take your time, look over the categories, cast your vote (it’s your civic duty as fans), and share the hell out of this post. You have until January 31ST at 11:59 PM ET to cast your vote

monster entertainment awards 5I want to welcome everyone to a special time here as we announce the categories and the nominees for each on the Fifth Annual Monster Entertainment Awards. Every year as usual, we award the best in music, TV, and film by nominating the films that we feel kicked ass in 2015. We are doing things a little different this year as we are no longer doing the #FriskyFriday Babe Of The Year Award, but we are still teaming up with MRXPunchOut.Wordpress.com for the Male and Female Wrestlers of the year awards. I hope everyone is excited as another year is behind us and we can celebrate it with the 5TH Annual Monster Entertainment Awards. It’s the award post that celebrates everything in music and movies with wrestling as well cause it’s sports entertainment after all.

Here is your second single of the week for today that I promised all of you and it’s from a band that features one bad ass chick. Ever since I heard Lzzy Hale cover Skid Row’s Slave To The Grind, I was absolutely hooked on the band and what she has done since. You should check out the video of her performing Nobody’s Fool with Cinderella’s Tom Keifer which is on the net currently. As you all should now, the band released their third overall studio album Into The Wild Life back in April of this year which could seriously be a contender for rock album of the year in next years Monster Entertainment Awards, but the band has released a new lyric video. The band released the lyric video for Dear Daughter in time for Mother’s Day which was yesterday (May 10TH). The band released their lyric video on Facebook with the message, “Happy Mother’s Day everyone! We thought today would be as good a day as any to premiere the official lyric video for “Dear Daughter”. The song is a piano driven ballad that is touching a dear to the heart and it definitely shows off their softer side. The band is currently on tour right now with a stop in Boston tomorrow (May 12TH) for all the beantown fans they have. Check out the single below and definitely take a listen to their new record.
