rotld necropolisThe film that I chose for today was inspired by a visit to my local theater last night. Last night I believe was the last chance you had to see the 50TH anniversary screening of Night Of The Living Dead and it was awesome. That is when I decided that I wanted to see a zombie film and I figured I would check out the fourth film in the Return Of The Living Dead series entitled Return Of The Living Dead: Necropolis which was released in 2005. When Zeke Borden (Elvin Dandel) goes down in a motorcross accident, his friends go searching for him, but the only problem is that he is not at an hospital, but at a research facility. When they go to rescue him, they unwillingly unleash the undead. The film also stars John Keefe (Here We Go) as Julian, Aimee Lynn Chadwick (Las Vegas) as Becky, Cory Hardrict (Battle Los Angeles) as Cody, Jana Kramer (Friday Night Lights) as Katie, Peter Coyote (The Legend Of Billie Jean) as Uncle Charles, Alexandru Geoana (Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud) as Jake, Diana Munteanu (Seed Of Chucky) as Mimi Romero, Toma Danila (The Devil Inside) as Carlos, Gelu Nitu (Icon) as Boris, Boris Petroff (The Prophecy: Uprising) as Crusty, and the film was directed by Ellory Elkayem (Eight Legged Freaks).

pAD4FAkCERB3sDprJM4f5YaKL3vI only have one rule when heading into a zombie film and that is you do not change the science of how to kill a zombie. George Romero set the guidelines in 1968 that you either burned them to ash, disconnected the head from the body, or you hit him with a bullet to the brain or you stab the brain. That is how you kill a zombie and for the most part they followed it with some of them in the beginning of the film, but then they ignored it with just shooting them anywhere or snapping their necks like you’re in a kung fu movie. To top that, one of the zombies was fully conscious and he could kick your ass for the most part which while it was annoying, I got over it. They had everything from regular zombies to have borg (Star Trek) like zombies armed with heavy artillery which just made no sense to me, but it is a research facility so I’ll let that one slide. With the certain actors they had in this film, I was quite surprised at how cringe worthy their acting was especially from Peter Coyote who I thought was great in so many films. Cory Hardrict, I have seen in many films, but this was not one of those brilliant performances. Overall, the film was just a recipe for disaster and I was trying to figure out where in the hell in the world were they? This is definitely a film that you may want to think twice about and just enjoy the original three films in the series that were brilliant. I am going to give the film an D+ for a final grade.

It’s 2018 which means it’s a new year and we still have a ton of states to visit to accomplish our goal of 50 bands from 50 states for the Unsigned Band Of The Week post. We have already visited 32 states which by my calculations means that we only have 18 states left to go and the one that we chose for this week has been my most desired state to visit. We are travelling all the way to the City Of Sin in Las Vegas for a band that has been soldiering on for sometime in Bipolar. Bipolar is a band that epitomizes the ideals of being a DIY (Do It Yourself) band as they first formed in 2003 in Sacramento, California. After some years together in the band, Charlie and Brian Hanks decided to relocate the band to Las Vegas in 2008 for a fresh start. They soon added Jaisen Hinds and Kevin Lemus on guitars respectively, and the final piece to the puzzle in bassist Chris Kmit. The band has since been hard at work as they recorded five EP’s and one full length album giving them quite the catalog. The track we are checking out from them is also a music video that the band produced for their song Callow from their Amor Fati disc. The track starts off sounding like a lot of their influences from the Nu-Metal world, but when it kicks in, holy shit does this song kick ass. It’s intense in your face, and Charlie’s vocals are kick ass. That girl can scream and she can hang with the best of them. Check them out on Facebook, Spotify, Youtube, and even Twitter. Check out the video below!

sharknado-4It seems to be a tradition every year now on the SYFY channel when a Sharknado movie comes around and it seems to be something we cover for Cheeseball Cinema too. It’s also been a while since the last time we covered a Cheeseball Cinema film so to get us back in the swing of things, we decided to watch Sharknado 4: The 4TH Awakens. To get you up to speed, it has been five years since the last Sharknado attacks and Finn (Ian Ziering) has been living the quite life with his mother (Cheryl Tiegs) and his son Gill (Chris and Nicholas Stone), but no April (Tara Reid). Finn believes that she has passed away after being in a coma for four years, but is surprised to see her when a new Sharknado of sorts decides to touch down in Las Vegas. As it morphs into all different kinds of Tornados (sandnado, bouldernado, Lavanado, etc.) Finn has to try and save his family before it’s too late. The film stars David Hasselhoff (Baywatch) as Col. Gilbert Shepard, Cody Linley (Hoot) as Matt Shepard, Ryan Newman (Monster House) as Claudia Shepard, and Masiela Lusha (George Lopez) as Gemini. The film of course features tons of cameos from the likes of Corey Taylor, Seth Rollins, Gary Busey, Dr. Drew, Wayne Newton, Vince Neil, Carrot Top, Tommy Davidson, Caroline Williams, Dan Yeager, Dog The Bounty Hunter, Steve Guttenberg, and so many more.

sharkando-2This continues to be some of the cheesiest crap that is thrown on TV, but you know what they have are a ton of fun doing it. It has become quite the phenomenon when you try to figure out what insane stunts are they going to pull or who in the hell is going to make a cameo in this film. The material also just gets cheesier and cheesier as the series rolls on with April being put back together, but she can now remove her hand and use the force to summon a lightsaber out of it. Oh yeah, there’s also the fact that they pay homage in this film not only to Star Wars with references, but they also do it with Christine, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and even the Wizard Of Oz. There’s also the fact that this Sharknado changes forms every time it runs into something and they get a tiny bit creative with it. Some of the dramatic attempts for scenes is just too corny and laughable. As I said before though, they look like they are having a ton of fun with it and it is fun to watch as well. The film when it concludes, it sets up the very next film in the series and I will definitely look forward to that. So, if you like over the top action, over achieving on your acting, and just some cheesy wholesome family fun then look no further because Sharknado is here to make your day. On a scale of one being close to an A-List Hollywood film and five being the cheesiest film of all time, I would have to give this film an 4.5 for a final grade.

nic and vince“We’re told Nic and Vince were inside when a woman came up to Nic and asked for an autograph. Our sources say Vince allegedly got behind the woman, grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground. The video we got shows the end of a fight between Vince and Nic. Our sources tell us Nic was trying to restrain Vince and calm him down, taking him outside the hotel and into a car. Nic is screaming at Vince, imploring him to calm down.” That is what TMZ is reporting right now about an altercation between cult film actor Nicolas Cage and former Motley Crue singer Vince Neil. They are reporting that the incident took place according to police around 5PM Las Vegas time yesterday (April 7). In the video that TMZ posted you can see Nic physically restrain Vince and he’s yelling at him saying, “Stop this s–t now!” TMZ also reported, “Cops tell us Vince was cited for battery and never taken to the station.” To check out the full video that was caught on camera, check it out here. We can see that Vince has been keeping himself busy sine the end of Motley Crue, but it remains to be see what happens next. So stay tuned here for more information as it becomes available to us.

ralphie May TVI needed something to watch while I was having some down time while on vacation in Maine and I found the perfect comedian to help me out with that. Everyone’s favorite raunchy stand up comedian is back and in charge with a brand new comedy special that is on Netflix as we speak. The one and only plus size comedian Ralphie May is back with a new special on Netflix called Ralphie May: Imperfectly Yours which brings Ralphie to the city of sin. The special is new to Netflix, but it was actually filmed in 2013 as Ralphie takes the stage in Las Vegas to talk about various topics like being attacked in a casino by an old lady, Asian card dealers, Walking around the Las Vegas strip, Hipsters and hockey pucks as piercings as well as having beards, politics & racism, tipping, having an Asian President, dick measuring, big vaginas, as well as giving guys tips on how to be smooth with the ladies and other great stories that are funny as hell.

ralphie may 2Ralphie May is at his best in this special as he hits you with a funny story right after another. I am very surprised that it took two years for this special to come out considering Netflix has it saying 2015 next to the name of the special. One of the funniest stories that he gives all of us is his lesson on dating which includes how to pick up woman, being a great wing man, and the benefits of taking a big girl home. One of my other favorite stories that he tells is his jokes on Hipsters because he is so right on what became the look that all of them use today. Ralphie May is known for his no holds barred style that is dirty and he knows how to push the right buttons, but he does it with style. While I liked Unruly which is his special that came out this year, this one is definitely funny and maybe a little more than Unruly. This is definitely one to check out  as it was taped while Ralphie was celebrating his 25TH year in comedy and that is why I am going to give this special an A for a final grade. Check it out on Netflix right now.

stanger2015It’s been a while since I did one of these and so I figured I would do one today as there are some noteworthy news stories out there. I just wanted to mention real quick that Today is Black Label Society vocalist/axeman Zakk Wylde’s birthday which I already wished here. One of the coolest news stories out today though is the fact that a band actually took time out of their schedule to re-record Metallica’s St. Anger. You have to admit that all of us hated the recording quality of the record especially with Lar’s drum sound which it was apparently turned off while they recorded. We do not know the name of the band, but they are a group of friends. They are Daryl G. & Chris D. of the band Grace The Skies and Dave C. of the band Adjust. Here is what the band said about why they decided to take the time to re-record what they are calling #STANGER2015:

Recorded during a turbulent time in the bands career, St. Anger has always divided opinion. Some longtime fans were turned off by the drop tuned riffs and raw production, whilst some listeners embraced it, myself included. #STANGER2015 is for the listeners who weren’t so fond on the record back when it was released in 2003.

Recorded from the ground up, the album has been shortened by 15 minutes, yet every riff and lyric is intact, resulting in a more concise and focused record.

The production is also more conventional, and we hope that Metallica fans appreciate this new version of an album that is always looked at as an anomaly in the incredible career of the world’s biggest metal band, Metallica.

To listen to the re-recording of the track, just click here. The new version is mo much more tolerable, but I have to admit that I am still not a fan of some of the lyrics.

five fFive Finger Death Punch fans are probably rejoicing at some news that has dropped courtesy of Jeremy Spencer. The band released two volumes of The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell back in 2013 and the band is apparently ready to release some new music. Here is what Drummer Jeremy Spencer had to say, “I’m not sure. We always try to do things a little differently than the time before, but without being drastically different. We are who we are and I don’t see us doing something so left turn that people are going, What is that? I just don’t see that. We sound like what we sound like and I’m excited to see where it goes, honestly. I love making new records, and feeling the energy, seeing how everyone has grown and all that. We do try to push ourselves and experiment a little here and there. We have to keep it fresh for ourselves.”

hell gateMotley Crue, Guns N’ Roses, and Def Leppard have all down Vegas residencies and the next logical person to do one would be none other than the Prince Of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne. Sharon Osbourne told The Sun, “I’m working right now on a Vegas production for Ozzy. It’ll be in time for Halloween and be called ‘Hell Gate’” One source was quoted saying, “Ozzy has never done a stand-alone show in Vegas and there has been huge interest in what he has to offer. Vegas is an amazing spot, which has been a huge hit with the rock crowd. Ozzy would be a top draw and really do something unique.” As I said, this is the next logical step for Vegas and residencies. It will also give fans of his solo career to see him live once again.

tntIn heartbreaking and unfortunate news, TNT have once again parted ways with Tony Harnell. So, there goes any chance of seeing the band tour the US with the only singer that mattered. Tony spoke out in a statement on Facebook that said, “Sadly, it’s not possible for me to continue with the band. I won’t bore you with all the details…It’s nothing mind blowing and it’s certainly nothing new and it’s also best to respect the privacy of the band and keep our issues between us. At least that’s my goal. What I can tell you all is that I tried very hard once again to make it work for the long haul…My heart is broken, again, but I have no regrets about the past year and I’m really happy I could have such a wonderful final tour with the band for you guys.”

In better news than the last article, Saxon drummer Nigel Glockler gave fans an update on his condition after undergoing emergency brain surgery for an aneurysm he suffered last month. Meanwhile, Udo Dirkschneider’s son Sven Dirkschneider will be taking over drum duties for Saxon’s upcoming tour. The video with Nigel can be seen here.

I also wanted to take the time to wish the former voice of Queensryche Geoff Tate a very Happy 56TH Birthday today (January 14TH). I also wanted to wish White Lion frontman Mike Tramp a very Happy 54TH birthday today as well. Tomorrow (January 15TH) is Saxon frontman Biff Byford’s 64TH Birthday so Happy Birthday to him as well.

unnamedRex Brown (Ex-Pantera/Down/Kill Devil Hill) and Gary Holt (Exodus/Slayer) have joined The Metal Allegiance show which takes place at The House Of Blues in Anaheim on January 21ST. Here is the complete lineup of all the people participating, “Frank Bello (Anthrax), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Chuck Billy (Testament), Chris Broderick (Ex-Megadeth), Rex Brown (Pantera/Kill Devil Hill), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Gary Holt (Slayer/Exodus), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Mark Osegueda (Death Angel), Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs), Troy Sanders (Mastodon), Alex Skolnick (Testament) and John Tempesta (The Cult).” The show will stream live for all to see on the internet at this website. Here is what Rex had to say, “What better way to kick the new year in the fucking ass than with a Metal Allegiance show? House of Blues in Anaheim barely survived the last time! GET IT LOUD AND TEAR IT DOWN!!! If you can’t get your ass out to Anaheim, get it in front of a computer and head over to The Music Zoo’s website to watch it all go down.” Check it out or be lame and don’t unless you have a perfectly acceptable excuse.

111The Rock In Rio Festival is coming to the United States for the first time in May and we have some incredible lineups to announce. On May 8TH, this is more like the Alternative day with No Doubt, Mana, The Pretty Reckless, Foster the People, Gary Clark, Jr., Bleachers and Saints of Valory. Now if you’re like me then you are looking forward to day 2 on May 9TH which features the likes of Metallica, Deftones, Linkin Park, Rise Against, Hollywood Undead, Sepultura, Coheed & Cambria, and Of Mice And Men. There is a whole other weekend that I am not interested in, but if you want to get your hands on some tickets, just go here.

downloadToday (November 17TH) is Martin Scorsese’s birthday and if you don’t know who Martin Scorsese is then you’ve been living under a rock because he has made some of the greatest films in cinematic history. He is a true student of the game as Martin has appreciated all the history of cinema that came before him and helped shape who he would become. So to help celebrate his birthday, I am picking my top 5 Martin Scorsese films, here is the list.

5. The Departed– You’ll soon see in this list that I love Gangster movies and this was definitely a favorite of mine not just because it took place in Boston, but look whose in the film. Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, and so many more. This was the old meeting the new in this unofficial tale of Whitey Bulger. They say it’s not based on him, but come on now, we’re not that stupid.

4. Raging Bull– This was an unbelievable in depth look at boxing great Jake LaMotta who was absolutely psychotic. One of the greatest transformation scenes happens towards the end when you see Robert DeNiro transform into who LaMotta would later become. Joe Pesci also stars in this film.

3. The Wolf Of Wall Street– This was definitely one of my favorite films from 2013 and definitely a film that Leonardo DiCaprio should have won an Oscar for. It’s a long film, but it’s intense and the acting is amazing from Jonah Hill, DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, and so many more. A definite must watch film.

2. Casino– For a long time, I was on a Gangster movie kick and Scorsese seemed to be the man making the best ones in the 90’s and it rang true with this classic mob run Las Vegas Casino flick that paired Scorsese with Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, James Woods, and Sharon Stone to name a few. This film can be real brutal at times, just check out the head in a vice scene.

1. Goodfellas– This was the very first film that I ever watched that I knew was from Martin Scorsese which was the adaptation of Henry Hill’s New York gangster story that starred Ray Liotta as Hill with Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, and so many other greats.
