IMG_5119In all of 2019, Marvel Comics has been celebrating 80 years as a company with reprinted stories and all brand new cutting edge stories that have obviously kept us glue to what the company has done. It’s amazing to believe where this company has been considering all the good times and bad times it endured over 80 years and it all started with Marvel Comics #1. Now it has all come down to this moment as I present to you Marvel Comics #1000 which features a boatload of variant covers, artists , writers for this one from the past, present, and as Marvel puts it the future. The comic celebrates all of Marvel’s big moments from the creation of certain characters like Captain America or Red Wolf to origins of certain characters being revealed like Galactus, but there is just one common thread throughout this 80 page celebration. Just who is the bearer of the Eternity Mask and what is the Eternity Mask? He is a figure whose legend says that he is older than most in the Marvel Universe put together, but we want to know it’s secrets. When all is eventually revealed, who will step from the shadows of the mask and into the light. I guess we just have to wait to find out. For more information on the comic, just visit the Marvel fansite here.

IMG_5126There is a lot to digest in this comic because it’s 80 pages worth of history, but it’s fun to see all the different artists that came together for this like Carl Burgos, Steve Epting, Patch Zircher, Leonardo Romero, Joshua Cassara, Irene Koh, John Cassaday, Stuart Immonen, Ron Garney, Leonard Kirk, Phil Noto, Cameron Stewart, Gabriel Hardman, Michael Allred, Doug Braithwaite, Tim Sale, Cory Smith, Chris Weston, Eduardo Risso, CAFU, and so many more. It was definitely fun to see all the historical moments through out every single year since the company had started. I thought that was a very good touch and a little different than what DC did with their 1000 milestone. One of my favorite moments was seeing the old school Howard The Duck page that we got as it celebrated the milestone of Howard The Duck being a feature film in 1986. Then there’s the big moment where Batman makes a cameo in the comic as he meets the Merc With A Mouth. Well, he sort of does! The artwork in my opinion is where it’s at with this comic as you get everyone from, Blade to Hercules all the way to the mystery of the Eternity Mask which promises to be solved in 2020. I am definitely looking forward to that, but for now check it out and check out my grades below:
