PALE HORSEThe other week while cruising through my Spotify playlists that the app creates for you, I stumbled on a Type O Negative song and began to reflect on how much I missed the band and the music. Then as I am cruising through the web for new music, someone answered my prayers with the band A Pale Horse Named Death who look to bring back that alt goth sound from the 90’s that we love so much. The band which features not one, but two former drummers of Type O Negative in vocalist/guitarist Sal Abruscato and drummer Johnny Kelly. The band who is gearing up to release their third album When The World Becomes Undone (out January 18, 2019) have bestowed us with an awesome gift that is their first single entitled Love The Ones You Hate and the track is everything you would want. Sal talked about the track saying, “Love the Ones You Hate’ is one of my favorite songs. It brings back the early ’90s alternative goth metal that inspired us back then. The song is about moving on from friends that have intentionally hurt or betray you and it’s time to forget them, let go of the grudge and the hate towards them. I wrote this song at my home in upstate New York and finally had the fuel to finish the lyrics this past year.” As I said before, the track kicks ass and I am looking forward to listening to the album when it’s released. Check out the track below and check out some cool pre-order options the band has by clicking here. Also check out the artwork to the album and the track listing below:

Godsmack Single Of The WeekOne of the best bands from Boston besides Boston, The Cars, or Aerosmith has been Lawrence legends Godsmack. They have been carrying the flag for Boston Hard Rock/Metal since their self titled debut album. These guys whether you like it or not are also one of the best bands to see in a live format and you can take that to the bank. Now the band is getting ready to release their first album 2014’s 1000HP in their seventh overall album entitled When Legends Rise on April 27TH via BMG (Their first with the label). The band has also unleashed the very first single off the album in Bulletproof which is very melodic. The song is actually very different than what we are used to from the band, but the direction of their music should not be a surprise to anyone. Lead singer Sully Erna once said in an interview in 2014, “I’m not that same young, angry kid as I was when I was writing early Godsmack material. And so now Godsmack has become a little bit of a challenge because I go, ‘Okay, what am I gonna write about?’ Cause you can’t write too ‘happy’ when you’re writing for Godsmack, but nothing is really making me super sad or angry. And so it’s gonna be interesting to continue.” I actually like the direction the band is going in and I cannot wait to hear what the rest of the tracks sound like. If you would like to pre-order the album, you can do so here.

M75502_1500Black Stone Cherry are one of those bands that you always hear about in the music industry that no matter what happens they hang around where most would give up. No matter if a label decides to push them or not, they continue to be road warriors and they continue to do what they love doing which is write new music. From their beginning days at Roadrunner to their current home at Mascot, the band is soldier on with their sixth studio album in Family Tree. Drummer John Fred Young talked about the album saying, “Family Tree showcases all of our collective musical influences and how we have taken those to create something that is truly our own unique Southern American rock ‘n roll sound.” The band has also unleashed the first single off the album in Burnin’ which sees the band flex their rock muscles with the track as vocalist Chris Robertson goes all out vocally. The band has also released some cool packages for you everyone as you can pre-order the album before it hits the stores on April 20TH. Check out the track below:

One of my all time favorite vocalists has always been Jonathan Davis of Korn ever since the first time I heard him on the self title debut album. I have always wondered what direction Jonathan would ever go in if he decided to go solo and we may have the answer right in front of us. Jonathan according to one article that I read has been at work on solo material since 2008 and we will all see how different his music will be from Korn’s music. The track is called What It Is and it was featured on the American Satan (Starring BVB’s Andy Biersack and Asking Alexandria’s Ben Bruce) Soundtrack. The song is very haunting in nature which shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to fans, but the music itself is like a well planned symphony. The song is driven by the piano as it becomes more haunting in nature with every note, but it’s a beautiful haunting sound. It’s definitely an industrialized symphony as one article described it, but Jonathan’s voice is always the centerpiece of everything. We don’t know any information about when a solo record will materialize and land in stores, but I am sure that I will be paying close attention to it. Check out the single below:

Breaking Benjamin is one of those bands that has had it’s ups and downs which included the band taking a hiatus and not seeing new music released for six years. I have to give it to the fans of this band because they waited and they made 2015’s Dark Before Dawn a huge success for the band and now the band has a brand new album entitled Ember which will be released in 2018. To keep fans satisfied until the album is officially released the band has provided us with the first single of the album in the very atmospheric track Red Cold River. While the track may be atmospheric in nature, it has some real heavy elements to it that make it a cool track to check out. Vocalist/guitarist Benjamin Burnley’s vocals on the track can go from being intense to very melodic and I loved it. The band will be going on a month long tour with Bullet For My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold and Synyster Gates talked about it saying, “We’ve been friends with these guys for a long time. Bullet for My Valentine, we’re bros. We’ve been in the trenches with those guys. My god, the fact that both bands are still around blows my fucking mind. They’re the coolest dudes and obviously we’re super fans of the music and the genres make sense. Breaking Benjamin, talk about songwriting, I mean, some of the greatest songwriters of the modern era. And, obviously it’s a little heavier. So to bring a pretty unique package you got super heavy, then there’s us and whatever the fuck that is and then really super strong songwriting through that hard rock filter.” Check out the track below:

bvbIt’s Christmas Eve which means all of you should just about be getting into the Christmas spirit or else you’ll have the Krampus on your tail. Nevertheless, I know one band that has decided to get into the Christmas spirit and that band is the wildly popular Black Veil Brides. Last year around the same time, the band had unleashed a single on to the world by the name of The Outsider which had fans clinging on to the hopes of a new record in 2017. Now here we are and the band has just unleashed a new single entitled The Last One and has promised that an album will be released in 2018 by the name of Vale. The track starts off making you think that it’s going to be a piano driven track until the twin guitar duo of Jinxx and Jake Pitts take over in this hard charging high octane track. When talking about the album, Andy Biersack said, “The central narrative once again finds ‘The Wild Ones’ characters facing the challenge of moving on from the pain and anguish of their past and looking to a new chapter in their lives. This concept is one that is near to my heart and I believe will resonate with those that find themselves cast on the fringe of society.” The album will be released on January 12 and you can pre-order it here. The band is also heading out on the road in a co-headlining trek with Asking Alexandria and you can check out all the tour dates below.
