exhumed singleThere are only 79 days left until the greatest holiday of the year for horror freaks alike is here, but if you are like me then you celebrate Halloween every day. That is exactly what Gore obsessed death metal act Exhumed has done for the last 21 years as they’ve filled our ears with their brand of terror. Now the band is gearing up to release their ninth studio album simply titled Horror and Matt Harvey promises, “If you’re a fuckin’ maniac that wants to pound some beers and smash up some tombstones, this is the record you’ve been waiting for.” The album is special for the band as it marks the first album the band recorded in their brand new home studio Darker Corners which they co-produced with Alejandro Corredor (Brujeria/Nausea). To get fans ready for the album which features 18 new tracks and will be released October 4TH Via Relapse Records, they have released the single Ravenous Cadaver for the world to hear. When talking about the single, Harvey says, “Ravenous Cadavers’ is a great taste of the album – and this is one of the more mid-paced tracks on the record, so… Horror is all about stripping away everything and getting down to the core elements of our sound: raw and nasty aggression. The album’s like mainlining grinding death metal at a lethal dose. If you liked the more intricate, melodic stuff that we’ve done, this may not be the one for you. If you’re a fuckin’ maniac that wants to pound some beers and smash up some tombstones, this is the record you’ve been waiting for.” One thing I will say is that you definitely have to check out the cool items the band has for pre-order which includes a VHS set and it’s all at this location. decompose vinyl“The track ‘Decompose‘ is one of the first songs that was written for the new album, and one of the songs I was most excited about. Our drummer Kyle came up with the music, and once the band all got together, it took on a new life. With the addition of the eerie keyboard/piano pieces added in by Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour, HELLYEAH), this is another classic Wednesday 13 graveyard sing along” is what Wednesday 13 said about the new single which is off of their upcoming release Necrophaze which will hit the shelves on September 27TH via Nuclear Blast Records. The track and album was produced by Mike Spreitzer who you may remember from Devildriver while the album features guest appearances from the likes of Alice Cooper, Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom), and Jeff Clayton (ANTiSEEN). As far as the album is concerned, Wednesday said, “To say we are excited about this release would be an understatement. We have re-built and Frakensteined an all new Wednesday 13. This is the next chapter, the next experience, the next phase into our world…Enter the Necrophaze. This is the most elaborate, horror themed album I’ve ever released under the name Wednesday 13.

wedneday13necrophazecover1Channeling the atmosphere of early 80s horror films, tv shows, cartoons and movie soundtracks the ‘Necrophaze‘ was complete. To add a little more Blood to the party, we had the complete honor of having the Godfather of shock rock, the legendary Alice Cooper. Alice is a guest doing the introduction to the album and the title track ‘Necrophaze‘. We wanted to give the listener the ultimate listening experience as if our band was the soundtrack to a horror film. The artwork for the CD and vinyl is a visual guide to the songs, and the live show will be the living breathing horror movie version. There will be a Wednesday 13 action figure, music Videos, movie soundtrack trailers, commercials and more all on the way with the release of ‘Necrophaze‘. The artwork and packaging is a tribute to the classic art and packaging from my favorite time of the 1980s. So welcome to Party…but bring your own blood.” I don’t think that Wednesday 13 ever lost his thunder at all, but the track is absolutely bad ass. It definitely is a new chapter for the band and for him as well. Check out the track below and be sure to check out some of the presale options here.

abbath metal singleOne of the great vocalists and songwriters of the black metal genre is arguably the one and only Abbath Doom Occulta who now fronts his own band Abbath. In 2016, Abbath released his first self titled solo record since having been in Immortal and it was an incredible record. Fast forward three years and he is now gearing up to release his second album titled Outsrider which comes out June 5TH via Season Of Mist. The band will have a whole new look with the album as Abbath has a whole new line up that consists of Ole Andre Farstad (Guitar), Ukri Suviletho (Drums), and Mia Wallace (Bass). The black metal legend has gotten everyone ready for the release of the record by sharing a brand new single with all of us entitled Calm In Ire Of Hurricane. The track opens with an ominous and brooding sound that just builds until the twin guitar assault begins and the thing that I love about this track is the fact that Abbath can infuse classic metal riffs with the fierceness of Black Metal. It’s an ability that he has been able to produce for quite some time and the track is amazing. I’m definitely excited for what the rest of the album will sound like. You can pre-order the album right now through Season Of Mist by clicking here. Otherwise check out the track below:

skillet singleA band that has always impressed me with the material they have put out is none other than Christian rock band Skillet. The track that got me hooked into the band was none other than their 2009 mega hit Monster and the track certainly brought them into the mainstream for sure and they have not looked back since. Now 10 years later and the band is gearing up to release their tenth studio album in Victorious which comes out August 2ND via Atlantic Records. To get the fans ready for the album, the band has released a track that may sound a little familiar to fans in the track Legendary which the band has played live. The anthemic track was described by singer John Cooper, “It’s actually a little different for Skillet as well. That opening guitar riff isn’t like anything we’ve ever done on guitar. It’s a little bit bluesy, a little bit rock. I thought it was cool.” He continues to say, “It’s the first time that me and Korey [Cooper] produced most of the record ourselves. When I was looking at what we did well on Unleashed, I thought it was a real energizing and fun record to listen to. That’s what a great Skillet record is — songs that make people want to put their fists up in the air at a concert or get them through a run or drive or whatever they are doing. So we set out to make a record that had a lot of emotion to it.” The band will be on the road this summer with Sevendust so be sure to check out that tour, but in the meantime check out the lyric video below:

Death Angel singleOne of the most underrated bands to come out of the late 1980’s thrash metal scene has to be Death Angel who have been holding it down for Bay Area Thrash for quite some time. The band has a brand new album entitled Humanicide which drops May 31ST via Nuclear Blast Records and was produced by Jason Suecof. To keep the fans enticed until then, the band has a special track that they have released as one of the album’s singles in The Pack which is a tribute to the band’s fan base. Guitarist Rob Cavestany talks about the track saying, “The Pack’ is inspired by and dedicated to our fans! When I wrote this song, we had just come home from tour and I was still feeling the rush of performing at open air festivals. The energy exchange between us on stage and the mass of metal heads in the crowd is unlike any other. I wanted to capture it in a song about unity, like our song ‘Kill as One.” He continues to say, “Our fan club is called ‘The Pack,’ our fans get it! But it’s not only for them, it also branches out to represent our families, friends, team, crew… and all metal heads! We feel honored to belong to this worldwide ‘pack.’ This song requires crowd participation, we are SO looking forward to playing it live!” Check out this banger below and be sure to get your copy which you can pre-order here. Check out the track below and be sure to check out the band live right now with Overkill:

12 years in the tomb singleIt has been 24 years since fans of legendary doom metal band Saint Vitus have heard the singing of Scott Reagers on a Saint Vitus album. That wait is over as Saint Vitus have unveiled their newest album since Lillie: F-65  which was released seven years ago and they have unveiled that Reagers has replaced Wino in the band for the self titled new album. The album also marks the first time that Pat Bruders (Down, Ex-Crowbar) has played bass on a Saint Vitus album as he replaced original bassist Mark Adams who is currently battling Parkinson’s disease. The track 12 Years In The Tomb is absolutely awesome as it channels the likes of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost as far as the riffing is concerned and Reager’s vocals are awesome as his gritty vocals goes real well with the band’s overall sound. I love the solo towards the end of the song as Dave Chandler just shreds along with the track reminding us of all the greatness that is doom metal. Seasons Of Mist will be releasing the album on May 17TH and you can check out some of the goodies that are available with the pre-order here. Otherwise, check out the track below:

The Dirt SingleThe film that you all have been waiting for since the rumors some years ago and the announcement during their retirement tour press conference is going to drop on Netflix this month. That’s right, I am talking about the Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt which stars Machine Gun Kelly a.k.a. Colson Baker as Tommy Lee, Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars, Daniel Webber as Vince Neil, and Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx. To celebrate the film, the band returned to the studio to record four tracks together which includes a cover of Madonnas Like A Virgin and the track we chose for today’s Rock Single of the Week in The Dirt (Est. 1981) featuring Machine Gun Kelly. The track at first has a very Shout At The Devil feel with the intro, but when the band comes in, it’s very Saints Of Los Angeles sounding which is cool because it’s the natural evolution of the Crüe. If you wondering what it sounds like with Machine Gun Kelly, I have to say that his part is not overwhelming as it fits the track perfectly and it doesn’t overtake it. One of the other common questions asked is how is the band getting back in the studio without wanting to reunite and tour? Nikki answered that question in an interview with Classic Rock saying, “Yeah, I miss the guys, and I miss playing with them, and playing that music, but everyone’s fairly busy with their own thing. That’s a whole conversation that we haven’t even had at that point.” He however did not deny nor confirm the rumors, but simple said, “I don’t know if we ever will.” Check out the film on Netflix and check out the single below:
