callenFor today’s Tuesday stand up special, I wanted to watch stand up from someone I had not seen do stand up , but I enjoyed some of their work in other medias. I have seen Bryan Callen go from being one of the regulars on Madtv to some great cameo appearances in some of  my favorite comedies like The Hangover 1 and 2, Ride Along, About Last Night, and many other things that he has done over the years. When I noticed that he had a special that was up and available to watch on Netflix titled Bryan Callen: Man Class, I was immediately interested and school was in session. Bryan Callen is taking every one back to school on how to be a man and how to do with certain situations that can plague any man in life from how to properly look, pick up woman, how to avoid a fight, but most importantly how much cooler it was to be a human being before the age of technology. Its all the important lessons one will need in order to survive in the environment. The special was recorded at the Margaret A. Webb Theater in Santa Ana, California and it was directed by Manny Rodriguez (The Fluffy Movie: Unity Through Laughter).

callen 1This had to be one of the funniest stand up specials I have seen in a very long time and it has to do with the way that Bryan Callen tells his stories and how much energy he packs into one performance. One of my favorite stories from him in this special is when he is talking about what kind of a pet he would have protecting his yard and he gets into the story and he’s very physical telling the joke. It was such a lot of fun ad I got more than I bargained for watching it. Jeremy Piven (Entourage) pays him a very special visit in the beginning of the special and that gets the crowd going and he also has a fun interaction with one fan in the front row who happens to sport a mustache. Bryan will turn to him in various times in the special and of course the fan is a good sport. He’s very articulate with his stories and when he tells jokes he gives you great mental pictures to go along with the jokes. I definitely suggest checking out the special on Netflix. I am going to give the special an A for a final grade.
