avengedOne of the biggest Hard Rock acts of the 21st century in Avenged Sevenfold were supposedly going to head into the studio due to a report that was made. It was all a simple misunderstanding as the band’s publicist clarified that the band was not heading into the studio due to a lawsuit. The publicist released the following statement regarding just what the lawsuit is about:

We recently exercised our rights under California law and notified Warner Bros. Records we would no longer record for them. Few of the executives who have been integral to our continued success are still at the label, and we love and are grateful to them for their hard work. However, since we signed with the label, Warner Bros. has had 3 different regimes, multiple heads of marketing, and none of the senior management or A&R executives who were at the company and responsible for signing us are still there.

Whatever the activity, it takes a full team to compete, and we no longer know most of our teammates. In the coming days, you may read about the lawsuit our label filed against us for exercising our legal rights, rights the State of California granted specifically to protect artists. You may see mistaken facts or worse.

One such error we want to make sure you know about: Avenged Sevenfold has never renegotiated its original recording agreement with Warner Bros. Records. Billboard has now corrected its story to reflect the real facts.

Most importantly, we want our fans to know this: we are in the middle of writing a record we cannot wait for you to hear. We expect to go into the studio very soon, and look forward to releasing our new album later this year.

Until then, we wish all of you a happy, healthy 2016.

Love,
A7X

Of course fans will now have to wait until all of the mess is cleared up so that fans can hear the brand new record which will be the follow up to 2013’s Hail To The King. Until then, stay tuned to see if we get anymore info on the lawsuit and how it is going.

If you are a fan of the original The Mummy film that starred Boris Karloff or any of the rebooted Universal Monsters films like Dracula AD, etc. then I have some news for you. Universal is about to launch the first film in the reboot of The Mummy film and there is a major change in the character. The Mummy apparently is going to be played a female with what experts are saying is a unique backstory. Universal commented by saying, “the gender of the monster in the new film, which is set in the modern day, likely will depend on casting, expected to happen in the next couple of months.” They also revealed that there are two different versions they could go by, “one that would feature a female monster, and one that would feature a male.” Alex Kurtzman is set to direct the film that was written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus). The film will be released on March 24, 2017 with another the following year. I have to go along with the major consensus in saying that I don’t care what gender The Mummy is as long as the story is tight.

gutterdammerungSome of you may be wondering just what in the hell is Gutterdämmerung? Apparently it’s a dark rock and roll fairy tale that stars the likes of Slash, Joshua Homme, Lemmy, Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Justice, Henry Rollins, Slayer’s Tom Araya, Volbeat, Mark Lanegan, Nina Hagen and Jesse Hughes. The film was done by Björn Tagemose and apparently a live band will accompany the film according to the trailer. It looks like a film that could either be epic or an epic cheesefest. Check out the trailer for the film here.

godzzillaIn other news, we have some cool info on some of my favorite monsters that are not from Universal. Legendary Films and Warner Brothers did so well with the reboot of Godzilla that the company has announced that they are creating their own universe which seems to be the thing to do these days. Nevertheless, it has been announced that Godzilla, King Kong, and many others old and new will be appearing in films in the future. According to businesswire.com, the first films you’ll see are “2017’s KONG: SKULL ISLAND; GODZILLA 2 in 2018; and then GODZILLA VS. KONG, arriving in theaters in 2020.” According to a report, the two companies did acquire the rights from Toho to have King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan which allow them to create the universe. Legendary CEO Thomas Tull said, “Audiences really responded to Godzilla. Today, I’m excited to reveal that film was only the beginning of an epic new entertainment universe. As a lifelong fan of these characters, I’ve always wanted to see the ultimate showdown, and today we’re pleased to be announcing that and more.”

christopher_lloyd___h_2015On October 21, 2015, it is officially Back To The Future day. What is weird is that in the film, the Chicago Cubs won the world series and the Cubs have now moved on to the next round in the MLB playoffs for real. Christopher Lloyd who played our beloved Doc Brown says that he would take the role in a fourth Back To The Future if everyone returned. Who are the everyone he speaks of, well it’s Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale, Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, and Thomas F. Wilson of course. Lloyd in an interview says, “I would love to do Doc again, no question.” He went on to say, “It’s tough to come up with an idea that contains the excitement of the original three,. So it would be a real challenge for the writers to come up with an original Back to the Future story that has the same passion and intensity and excitement as the other three. But it could be done, you never know.” He went on to talk about Michael J. Fox and whether he thought he would return to play Marty McFly once again, “I think regardless of the Parkinson’s, he’d probably jump on the role and he’d be great. I can’t see doing another sequel without him. I would certainly want Bob Zemeckis directing it, Bob Gale writing it and the other principals being involved.” And, of course, there has got to be a DeLorean, he added. “It was such a perfect choice for the film. It looked so speedy and futuristic.” Let’s just wait and see what happens in the future.

man of steel titleFor this week’s Super Sunday, we are heading back into the DC Universe for one of the comics that basically made them who they are today. For a lot of us comic book fans that grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, Christopher Reeve was the man known as Superman in all of our eyes. In 2006, Warner Brothers and DC Comics decided to bring back Superman to the big screen considering things were hot for Marvel at the time with Spider-Man and X-men. The only problem is their 2006 film Superman Returns was a huge flop and disappointment in the eyes of many fans. It would take seven years and for Christopher Nolan to dominate with his edgy and dark take on the Batman series with The Dark Knight Trilogy for DC and Warner to finally realize what they had to do with the Superman series and now we have 2013’s Man Of Steel. Henry Cavill (Immortals) stars as Clark Kent, Kal-El, or Superman as the film explores his origins of how he made it to Earth. Although in this film, we learn that General Zod (Michael Shannon) and the fact that Krypton was about to end was the reason for him travelling to Earth. Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Lara (Ayelet Zurer) had to sacrifice their lives so that Kal could live on a new planet. That doesn’t stop Zod and his outlawed and banished team from trying to find Kal so that they can recover something that is key to their planet. The film stars Diane Lane (Chaplin) as Marta Kent, Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves) as Jonathan Kent, Amy Adams (American Hustle) as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) as Perry White, Antje Traue (5 Days Of War) as Faora-Ul, Richard Cetrone (Watchmen) as Tor-An, and the film was directed by Zack Snyder (300).

superman Visually, I think this film is out of this world and that expression, “This film is visually stunning” is 100% accurate about Man Of Steel. Where Superman Returns failed, this film made up for it in every category. There is a reason why this film won the superhero movie of the year award last year in the 3RD Annual Monster Entertainment Awards with 50% of the vote and it was because it was that badass. I can’t pinpoint one performance that wasn’t better than any other performance because the cast was superb and Michael Shannon played an excellent villain. The special effects were great and the cinematography was on point. The only thing is that I wasn’t used to the idea of the film having Superman meet Lois Lane before he starts to work at The Daily Planet. This was definitely one of my favorite films from 2013 and unfortunately we have to wait until 2016 to get the second film in the series Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. which stars Ben Affleck as the new Batman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. I am going to give this film an A for a final grade. If you want to get involved in the voting process for the 4TH Annual Monster Entertainment Awards which features everything from Superhero film of the year, Horror, Action, comedy, and music categories as well, then click here.

justice-league-alex-ross-970x545If you’re a fan of Comic Book movies and DC Comics then you are about to get really excited as Warner Brothers announce their plans for the future and the unveiling every DC Comics based film they will make. Warner Brothers had to do something to compete with the Marvel take over in the news especially after they announced that Robert Downey Jr. would be starring in the third Captain America film bringing on the civil war in the Marvel Universe. So at the annual shareholders meeting they announced that they will start with the proposed Suicide Squad film in 2016, two films with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in her own film and the Justice League film in 2017, and then they announced new follow ups to Batman and Superman, plus a Green Lantern reboot, and the proposed Aquaman with Jason Momoa. Ezra Miller from The Perks Of Being Wallflower will play The Flash in 2018, and they announced Shazam with The Rock as Black Adam, and a Cyborg film.  There is no timeline for th efollow up Batman and Superman films, but the company announced they would love to do them in the future. horrible bosses 2So, a couple of days ago (September 5) Warner Brothers released another trailer for the sequel to the hilarious and amazing Horrible Bosses film. In the trailer, we see that Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis have returned along with Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, and they welcome Chris Pine to the mix. The only thing I can gather though from the trailer is that the gang is back at it again when they kidnap Chris Pine for ransom, but things change when Pine helps them out for a larger ransom. I really felt that the first film had a certain magic to it that made it amazing because how many times have you sat their and thought, “Man my boss is an A**Hole” and wished you could do what these guys did. The only thing is making me hesitant is that the film might not live up to the first one. I guess you’ll have to judge it for yourself, but I have hopes for this film because it features three of my current favs in comedy. Check out the trailer below”
