ninja titleI wanted to take the time to wish everyone a happy and safe new year as we get ready to usher in a brand new year which could be a fresh start for some or another year to keep the ball rolling. To end the year on a high note, I decided to review another film for Ass Whoopin Wednesdays called Ninja 2: Shadow Of A Tear. The film stars Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2) as a badass ninja named Casey. Casey’s pregnant wife Namiko (Mika Hijii) is murdered by who Casey believes is an old enemy of her fathers named Goro (Shun Sugata). Casey will literally battle to hell and back as he travels to Myanmar (formerly Burma) as he tracks down the man known to everyone as Goro. It is a dangerous mission, but Casey is a man hell bent on revenge. The film also stars Kane Kosugi (DOA: Dead Or Alive) as Nakabara, Vithaya Pansringarm (The Hangover Part 2) as General Sung, Mukesh Bhatt (Company) as Mike, Tim Man (Ong-bak 2) as Myat, Jawed El Berni (Warrior King 2) as Lucas, and the film was directed by Isaac Florentine (Undisputed 3: Redemption). Let’s check out some stats before we get into the review of the film.

ninja 2Let us analyze the stats of the film a little bit so that you understand what I am talking about there. I will start by saying that I can’t explain to you why where it says “Big Boss Defeated: Yes X2” because it will give away some important info (a little twist in the film). The love interest is obviously his pregnant wife and there isn’t an actual scene of them making lov, but we presume that they did. The origin story has more to do with what happened in the nation formerly known as Burma and why Goro is the way he is so it has nothing to do with our main character Casey. Scott Adkins does a terrific job in this film, he is a total badass. The first time I saw him was in The Expendables II when he was Jean Claude Van Damme’s main henchman. He fought Jason Statham in the film and when I saw that fight scene I asked myself who is this guy? Anyways, if you have Netflix then I suggest that you check out this film cause it’s worth the watch if you’re a fan of Martial Arts/Ninja films. It has some amazing fight scenes that will leave you asking for more. I am giving the film an four fists out of five for a final grade. Remember Happy New Year and hopefully 2015 is a better year for everyone.
