tim-lambesis-1Back in 2013, I extensively covered the strange, but true case of one Tim Lambesis for another blog that I owned at one time. It was the most shocking case of 2013 because no one had seen this coming not even fans of his metalcore band As I Lay Dying. As I Lay Dying were one of a few metalcore bands that I respected in those times, but I haven’t listened to a single track since then. You see Tim was accused of conspiring to have his estranged wife Meaghan murdered by a hitman. He was sentenced to a six year sentence, but was released on parole in 2016 after serving three years. There was a lof mystery surrounding the frontman as to what his plans were going to be now that he was out of jail. Some rumors were going around suggesting that he was going to be bringing back As I Lay Dying, but with all new band members and as of June 1ST, that looks to be a true statement. The band released a 30 second teaser video on it’s Facebook page that showcases some new music. The only problem is that you can not tell who is on vocals, but we can only assume that it is Tim Lambesis. The question moving forward is how many people are willing to give the singer a second chance and how many will actually check out the band’s new music? How do his old band mates feel about the new music coming out as well?

ruddAs if things were bad enough in the AC/DC camp with the band losing Malcolm Young due to his health problems, the band was eyt dealt another nasty card as drummer Phil Rudd was arrested in New Zealand for trying to procure a murder. Apparently according to some news reports, the drummer tried to have two men killed by hiring a hit man. As if he didn’t learn from As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis that this stuff doesn’t fly. When his house was raided this morning, the police had also found meth and cannabis, so those charges were thrown on top of the attempting to kill charge. He did not enter a plea when he appeared in front of a judge today in Tauranga District Court in New Zealand. He was released on bail and he was ordered to not have any contact with the man he was trying to have killed and he has to appear back in court on November 27TH where could possibly face up to ten years in prison. I’m not sure if there is any correlation between the fact that Rudd didn’t not show up to the video shoots for two music videos the band was recording and this event. When it comes to the alleged hit man who wants to remain anonymous, he was apparently a friend of Rudd’s who ran a local parlor that Rudd would hang out with. When asked about Rudd the man said to the Bay of Plenty Times (via The Herald Sun), “He’s burning the ones who care about him. The joys of being a rock star, always in the spotlight. You’ve got to feel sorry for him — just the expectations everyone has of him. He’s a good fella. He’s got a big heart.” Of course when he was asked about the plot, the man told the reporters he had no idea what they were talking about.

As for AC/DC, you have to imagine that this is definitely a huge blow for the band who plans to release their new album Rock Or Bust on December 2ND. The band did issue a statement regarding the matter at hand saying, “We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year.” It sucks for anyone who hasn’t seen AC/DC who may now be down yet another original member after the band lost Bon Scott in the 70’s, Malcolm earlier this year, and now Rudd due to this madness. We’ll have to just sit back and wait to see what happens next in this bizarre case. Stay tuned here for more info as it becomes available.
