2017 final fourI am hoping that at this point in the game that you understand how the tournament works and that you stop crying about Iron Maiden not being in the tournament anymore. We have an interesting scenario this year and one is that this is the first year that Iron Maiden is not in the final four and that there will completely be a new champion when it is all said and done. This tournament has always been about one fan base versus another and if a band does not share the tournament on their Facebook page, then I cannot be held responsible for them not winning. I am not Loudwire or Metalinjection.net, I don’t have their kind of pull. I am just a guy who loves metal and tries his best to promote it when he can. Anyways, one fan base that showed up to the tournament for sure was Queensryche’s fan base as they without a doubt sent their band through to the final four by 753 votes. Megadeth’s fan base also came to bat as they destroyed Testament by 728 votes setting up a match with Queensryche. The next match featured two newcomers with something to prove as Lamb Of God took on Trivium. The match was close for the most part, but in the end Lamb Of God distanced themselves winning by 316 votes.

Pedal Is WorldwideOur last match of the Elite 8 round was the most interesting one because it was so darn close right up until the end. Tournament newcomer, Amon Amarth took on 2015 champion (who defeated Iron Maiden to win the championship) Kreator in our last match of the elite 8 round. These two bands were separated by a couple of votes for almost the whole entire round. It was quite an amazing site to see, but in the end Amon Amarth pulled off the win by only seven votes (710-703). I will be setting up the matches real soon so stay tuned. I also wanted to express how excited I was at the turn out for the tournament and where you guys are coming from because we have reached nations like Singapore, Mexico, Netherlands, Finland, Argentina, Bulgaria, Thailand, Israel, Peru, Lithuania, Taiwan, Cayman Islands, Faroe Islands, Vietnam, Macedonia, and an island named Jersey just to name a few. There were way too many nations to list, but to me that is exciting and that is what this is all about. I just hope that we can get more and more countries involved in this tournament and that Iron Maiden fans stop being so salty over this.

For the fifth year in a row, we are observing the great holiday of Halloween by once again dedicating the whole month to the love of the holiday. Every post is going to be Halloween related which means there will be no Ass Whoopin Wednesdays until November and no Cheeseball Cinema until then as well. What returns is Eddie’s 31 Days Of Halloween which is a movie review of a horror film everyday for the whole month. The single of the week and the music video of the week posts will also be dedicated to that, but I am also going to be giving you one regular post as well since we are doing an award at the end of the year for those two categories. After the month is over, everything will go back to normal so I’ll will see all you Halloween fans in October.

Anton-Yelchin-Net-WorthYou hate to wake up and hear about tragedy striking once again especially the way 2016 has gone. We have lost so many great actors, musicians, etc. this year and now unfortunately we add another to the list. Russian born actor Anton Yelchin passed away today in a freak car accident at the age of 27. According to LAPD rep Jennifer Houser, “The victim was on his way to meet his friends for a rehearsal and when he didn’t show up, his friends went to his house where they found him deceased by his car. It appears that he momentarily left his car, leaving it in the driveway. He was behind the vehicle when it rolled backward and pinned him to the brick pillar causing the trauma that led to his death.” Anton Yelchin starred in films like my one of my favorites in Alpha Dog as well as Star Trek, Charlie Bartlett, Like Crazy, 5 To 7, Fright Night, The Smurfs, Terminator Salvation, and many more. The first time I saw Anton Yelchin was in the film Alpha Dog and I just remember being blown away by his performance. He  was definitely an actor to look out for and he proved it with every film whether it was an independent release or a major motion picture.

005ADG_Anton_Yelchin_021Some actors have already commented on his passign with Chris Evans saying, “Devastated to hear about the brilliant Anton Yelchin. He was thoughtful, kind, and gifted. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.” Tyler Shields posted, “I had dinner with Anton Yelchin 2 nights ago we talked about shooting together and making movies he is a great guy very sad to see him go.” The only fortunate thing is that we do still have some movies that are going t come out that starred Anton like the latest Star Trek film as well as a film entitled Porto, We Don’t Belong Here, Rememory, and Thoroughbred according to IMDB.com.  Anton will be missed for sure. R.I.P. Anton Yelchin (March 11, 1989 to June 19, 2016).

the-conjuring-2-stillWhether you are a fan of these types of horror films or not, you have to be happy about the news regarding The Conjuring 2. The Conjuring 2 came in first place according to EW.com making $40.4 million from 3,343 screens. The Conjuring 2 was one of three high profile films that came out this past weekend (June 10-12) with Warcraft coming in second place with 24.4 million made while Now You See Me 2 coming in third making 23.3 million. The Conjuring 2 didn’t make as much money as the first film, but the difference in sales in first week is only 1.5 million which you can now bet that there’ll be a third film. The only question is who will direct it because James Wan who has proven his films are box office gold is supposed to be directing the Aquaman film soon for DC. The only true test for The Conjuring 2 is whether it can hold off Finding Dory and Central Intelligence which stars The Rock and Kevin Hart as both films are released later this week. So as I said before, this is a big victory for Horror films in general and if you havent seen the film then go do so now. Here is a review of the film that I did for my 365 movies in 365 days challenge blog by clicking here.

Sc%C3%A8ne-Molson-Canadian-Stage-Slipknot-2So there was some pretty scary news delivered recently regarding one of the hottest metal bands in the land Slipknot. Slipknot was supposed to start their big summer tour with Marilyn Manson on June 9TH, but apparently that isn’t going to happen at least not by that time. Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has to undergo unplanned spinal surgery. The frontman released a statement explaining, “Regretfully, I’m sending this to our fans to inform you that we will be postponing the first couple of weeks of our upcoming U.S tour. Unfortunately, I had to undergo an unplanned spinal surgery. I am recovering nicely, and all went well! I need a little recovery time before hitting the stage. We will start the summer tour in Nashville on 6/28 and continue as previously scheduled. An update on the rescheduled dates will be available in the next few days. I hope you all understand and thanks for always having my back! Thank you, Corey.” Touring isn’t easy and the physical demands of a Slipknot tour must be high. 2016 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 1 - Day 2

This next piece of news certainly affects me considering that I have tickets to one of the shows on the Not In This Lifetime Guns N Roses tour. Apparently Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots has barred Guns N Roses from playing past curfew. While Guns N Roses have had a tendency of showing up on stage late in the past, Foxboro selectwoman Ginny Coppola has put her foot down making the curfew 11:15PM and it’s because of “noise issues” according to her. She stated in an interview with The Sun Chronicle, “This is on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. If this was a weekend, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. But it’s a work night. This isn’t going to be an acoustic evening. It’s going to be loud.” Apparently Gillette Stadium management tried to push for a 11:40 and even an 11:30 curfew, but those were shot down in flames. I’m not completely surprised by this decision because the curfew at the Xfinity Center which is literally the next town over from Foxboro’s curfew is 11PM and I personally do not want to be at the stadium all night long.

Muhammad-AliIn non music related news, legendary boxing champion Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. Muhammad Ali was an icon in and out of the boxing ring whether it was beating men in the ring or beating the US government for what he believed in, he was a champion. A lot of rockers expressed their feelings over the death of Muhammad Ali like Dave Mustaine who wrote on Twitter, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of one of my biggest heroes, the greatest, Muhammad Ali.” There are a lot more that expressed their thoughts and you can check them out by visiting Loudwire here. R.I.P. Muhammad Ali “Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.”
