Suicide-Squad-soundtrackBesides the Captain America: Civil War film, my other favorite superhero movie of the year was David Ayers take on the Suicide Squad. It’s the comic book film that is unlike any other because it features the Super-villains of DC Comics as the lead characters in a Dirty Dozen style film. To read the review of the film that I did for my 365 Movies In 365 Days Challenge blog, you can do so by going here. So one of the coolest features of the film is the soundtrack that comes attached to it that features artists like the Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, Rick Ross, Panic! At The Disco, Grace, Skylar Grey, War, and many more. The soundtrack was released on August 5 is a nice mix of what is relevant in Pop music, but there are versions of tracks on the soundtrack that were not featured in the actual film.

1. Purple Lamborghini by Rick Ross & Skrillex- a Dubstep/Hip Hop track that where you don’t actually mind the Transformers sound from Skrillex because it’s subtle. 4/5

IMG_31792. Sucker For Pain by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons(w/ Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors)- This is by far my favorite song on the whole soundtrack. It was hard for me to imagine so many different talent on the same song that I even had to watch the music video to see where Logic was on the song. One of Lil Wayne’s best raps. 5/5

3. Heathens by Twenty One Pilots- My second favorite song on the whole soundtrack from the Alternative Hip Hop group with it’s very melancholic sound. 5/5

4. Standing In The Rain by Action Bronson, Mark Ronson & Dan Auerbach- My third favorite song on the album that I would best describe as like a western meets hip hop sound with blues/rock Dan Auerbach on the track. 5/5

5.  Gangsta by Kehlani- A cool R&B track from Kehlani where she talks about not wanting any regular dude, but a Gangsta. 4/5

6. Know Better by Kevin Gates- One of my least favorite tracks on the album from Hip Hop artist Kevin Gates 3/5

7. You Don’t Own Me by Grace Featuring G-Eazy- A very cool track on the album that has Grace singing the choruses to the classic Lesley Gore track while G-Eazy raps over it. 5/5

8. Without Me by Eminem- The classic Eminem track from The Eminem Show album about how the world needs Slim Shady which is true. 5/5

9. Wreak Havoc by Skylar Grey- Kind of a cool track with guns as parts of the beat while Skylar Grey lays it down. 4/5

10. Medieval Warfare by Grimes- The track starts off pretty cool with a cool guitar track before it goes techno pop on you. 4/5

11. Bohemian Rhapsody by Panic! At The Disco- Just to clarify to people, the version you hear in the film is Queen, but the cover is what was included on the soundtrack. Nobody has the range or ability that Freddie Mercury had, but I give them an A for effort. 4/5

12. Slippin’ Into Darkness by War- The classic soul/funk War track from their All Day Music album which was a different touch for the film. 4/5

13. Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival- The classic CCR anti-war track that is ironically put into a film about the government hiring criminals to fight. 5/5

14. I Started A Joke by ConfidentialMX- This another of my least favorite tracks on the album because the song’s pace is slowed down to a snails pace where it just overly dramatic.  2.5/5

My Final Thoughts– For the most part as I said this soundtrack is a perfect mix of pop, Hip Hop, Rock, and classic rock as well. They could have made a whole separate soundtrack on all the other songs that were in the film, but this is good enough. You should definitely check out the film and the soundtrack. I am going to give the album 4.2 stars out five for a final grade.

For this week’s Unsigned band of the week, we are checking out a band that is local to me as far as location. The band I am talking about is Bloodline Theory who hail from Taunton, MA and I was introduced to these guys through a friend. I saw them live in concert when they opened up for Bobaflex and Orgy and these guys brought the intensity to the gig. The band is very versatile when it comes to their sound as they mix a little of everything from rock, metal, hardcore, etc. If you don’t believe me, these guys did an Eminem cover mixed with Tool live onstage. That should tell you something about being versatile and it was intense. The track I chose for you guys is the band’s big hit called Bombs Away and the song is a prime example as well of how versatile they are as it mixes a little of everything. It can be heavy and intense one minute and cool the next. If you want to know more about the band, check out their Facebook page here.

Last night, HBO held The Concert For Valor at The National Mall in Washington DC which was a tribute to all the men and women that serve in the United States Military to celebrate Veterans Days. One of the bands that appeared on stage at The Concert For Valor was Metallica who was given a tremendous introduction by Jack Black. The band opened up with For Whom The Bell Tolls and one of the coolest things you could notice besides the band ripping it was the fact that several men and women of the United States Military and their families were behind the band on stage as they rocked out. The band would then perform Master Of Puppets which was followed by set closer Enter Sandman. The concert also featured Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem and others, but this is where it’s at if you’re a fan of metal. I have their set for you below, so check it out and bang those heads.

Wearing makeup or a mask is a tradition that has been associated with the holiday of Halloween and since we are in observance of the holiday on this blog I have something special for all of you. This week’s Top 5 looks at my five favorite masked or make up wearing bands of all time and believe me there have been plenty of them along the way.

5. Hollywood Undead– My nephew actually introduced to these masked rappers from Hollywood and I was blown away. They were like a combination of early Eminem, Limp Bizkit, and Linkin Park all rolled into one. They had songs that were vulgar and humorous, but at the same time they had songs with a message. The band was supposed to release an album this year, but as of now the album is still unreleased.

4. GWAR– I’m not the hugest GWAR fan in the world, but I have a huge deal of respect for these guys and what they did in their careers and all of the awesome costumes this band ever had. They are still continuing strong even though they lost their lead singer Oderus Urungus (Dave Brockie).

3. Ghost– I immediately became a huge fan of this band from Sweden whose band members are simply known as The Nameless Ghouls and a creepy singer named Papa Emeritus II. Their music is incredible as it’s atmospheric and creepy and they sound a little like The Blue Oyster Cult. Check them out if you haven’t already.

2. Slipknot– What isn’t to love about these masked men from Iowa? These nine individuals banded together to change the metal world and they rose to the top doing it their way with their ever changing evolving masks. They may have lost one member due to death and another for reasons that are still unknown, but if The Devil In I is any indication as to what to expect from the group now, then I am completely sold.

1. Kiss– They were essentially one of the first bands to introduce the make up to hide their identities and for a long time it actually worked. No one had any clue as to what the members of Kiss’s true identities were until they removed the make up in the 80’s. Controversially, the band is still going strong an they even saw themselves get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame this year. So grab your Love Gun so that we can head down to Detroit Rock City while we Rock and Roll All Nite and party every day cause that is Dr. Love‘s orders.

So, the results to the 3RD Annual Monster Entertainment Awards are in and thanks to everyone that voted we have winners all of the categories like Album Of The Year, Movie Of The Year, and even #FriskyFriday Babe Of The Year. The #FriskyFriday Babe Of The Year Award is being handed out for the first time and what a heck of a turnout that award saw as over 600 people voted for who they thought it was. Was CM Punk going to claim the Wrestler Of The Year award for the third year in a row or would someone else finally beat him out for it. We also for the first time were handing out the female wrestler of the year award considering women are a huge part of wrestling now. Below you will find pictures declaring the winners in each category so check it out to see who won! We are also handing out Hall Of Fame spots as we usually do to one in the film category, one in the music category, and one in the TV side (which falls in the film & TV side).
