The most talked about match was the one between Japan’s BABYMETAL who had been blazing a path through the tournament taking on surprise semifinalist Moonspell of Portugal. Moonspell for the most part had been leading the match for maybe half of it until BABYMETAL’s fans showed up when it counted and took the match decisively. The other semifinal match featured two titans of their respective sub-genre’s of Metal in Poland’s Behemoth and Florida’s own Morbid Angel. Behemoth took the early decisive lead and just never looked back on their way to victory. Now, Behemoth has a tough task on hand as they challenge BABYMETAL for the first ever Pedal Cup crown, but with fan voting it’s anyone’s ball game. Also in the third place match, Moonspell will take on Morbid Angel because that is traditionally what the World Cup does. Check out he box scores below:

17498847_1430758220309198_7445967711751034253_nHere is the moment you have all been waiting for, it is the semifinals of the Pedal Cup in case you didn’t know is the World Cup of Metal. You guys came to play in the knockout stage, once again in the quarterfinals, and I want to thank every single one of you guys for that because without you none of this is possible. Now we have some interesting matches moving forward as the final four was set last night. We have Moonspell (Portugal), BABYMETAL (Japan), Morbid Angel (USA), and Behemoth (Poland) all eyeing to be the world champions of Metal. Moonspell has done pretty well for themselves as they easily defeated Egypt’s Crescent before holding the edge against Dimmu Borgir in the Quarterfinals. Now, they are tasked with trying to defeat the band who has recorded the most amount of votes in the tourney in Japan’s BABYMETAL. BABYMETAL scored a record amount of votes in their first match against Belgium’s Leng Tch’e (44 votes total) before surviving one heck of a match against Brazil’s own Sepultura (34 votes combined). The other match features two powerhouses of their respective subgenres. In one corner, you have Death Metal legends Morbid Angel who is the only band to record two straight shut out wins going against Blackened Death Metal act Behemoth who took care of business against Cradle Of Filth and Arch Enemy. It’s anyone’s ball game, but remember you guys have 24 HRS to vote, so vote for the bands you love and have some fun with it. As always, there are three ways to vote with one being on the Facebook page, the other on Twitter, and the last way to vote right here on this blog.

2017 final fourIt is here, the moment you have all been waiting for when we separate the men from the boys. Two bands are one step closer to realizing their goal of winning the pedal to the metal championship which has seen the likes of Motley Crue, Judas Priest (2013 & 2014), Kreator, and Destruction (defeated Iron Maiden to win championship) all win the pedal to the metal championship. I was wondering heading into this tournament if we would finally see someone other than Judas Priest go back to back, but after three rounds of fan voting, we are going to once again have a brand new champion. In fact, all four bands in the final four have never been this far in the tournament which makes it even more exciting and this is also the first time in three years that not a single member of the Big Teutonic Four are in the final four. For Lamb Of God and Amon Amarth, this is the first time these two bands have been in the tournament so it’s a win no matter the result for both these bands. For tournament veterans Queensryche and Megadeth, this is a chance for both bands to finally win the championship that has been alluding them both since 2011 when the tournament started. You have until March 28 at 11PM ET to vote for who you want to see in the finals. I want to remind people that without the bands sharing the tournament, there is no tournament. This is a fan base vs fan base tournament so vote for the band you love and show your unity. If you forget how it works then follow this link.

2017 final fourI am hoping that at this point in the game that you understand how the tournament works and that you stop crying about Iron Maiden not being in the tournament anymore. We have an interesting scenario this year and one is that this is the first year that Iron Maiden is not in the final four and that there will completely be a new champion when it is all said and done. This tournament has always been about one fan base versus another and if a band does not share the tournament on their Facebook page, then I cannot be held responsible for them not winning. I am not Loudwire or Metalinjection.net, I don’t have their kind of pull. I am just a guy who loves metal and tries his best to promote it when he can. Anyways, one fan base that showed up to the tournament for sure was Queensryche’s fan base as they without a doubt sent their band through to the final four by 753 votes. Megadeth’s fan base also came to bat as they destroyed Testament by 728 votes setting up a match with Queensryche. The next match featured two newcomers with something to prove as Lamb Of God took on Trivium. The match was close for the most part, but in the end Lamb Of God distanced themselves winning by 316 votes.

Pedal Is WorldwideOur last match of the Elite 8 round was the most interesting one because it was so darn close right up until the end. Tournament newcomer, Amon Amarth took on 2015 champion (who defeated Iron Maiden to win the championship) Kreator in our last match of the elite 8 round. These two bands were separated by a couple of votes for almost the whole entire round. It was quite an amazing site to see, but in the end Amon Amarth pulled off the win by only seven votes (710-703). I will be setting up the matches real soon so stay tuned. I also wanted to express how excited I was at the turn out for the tournament and where you guys are coming from because we have reached nations like Singapore, Mexico, Netherlands, Finland, Argentina, Bulgaria, Thailand, Israel, Peru, Lithuania, Taiwan, Cayman Islands, Faroe Islands, Vietnam, Macedonia, and an island named Jersey just to name a few. There were way too many nations to list, but to me that is exciting and that is what this is all about. I just hope that we can get more and more countries involved in this tournament and that Iron Maiden fans stop being so salty over this.

The Final FourA couple of weeks ago, we started this tournament with 32 bands from all sorts of genres of rock and metal and now we are down to two. Along the way, we’ve seen some major upsets and we even saw the defending champion taken down. I do want to remind all of you out there that if it wasn’t for you, this wouldn’t be possible at all because you voted for your favorite bands. In the final four, we had Ghost taking on Iron Maiden in one match while Testament took on Destruction. One band made it a close match after it almost looked over while another band blazed their way through the match much like they did in the tournament. In our first match up, it looked as if for a while that Iron Maiden had the match in their pocket until a late run saw Ghost almost make the comeback of a lifetime (it’s one of the best comebacks for a band that lost a match). Unfortunately, Ghost lost the match by only 19 votes meaning that Iron Maiden is in the finals for a second year in a row. In our other match, Destruction, a band whose fans have come out in droves since the tournament started didn’t let the band down at all. The band defeated Testament by a 105 votes meaning that they will take on Iron Maiden in the finals. Stay tuned for an opportunity to vote in the finals.

The Final FourHere it is the moment you have all been waiting for as The Final Four of the 2016 Pedal To The Metal Tournament is now live and open. This year’s tournament has been full of surprises as we’ve seen some upsets along the way. Ghost is one of those bands that has had some of those upsets as they’ve beaten giants like Black Label Society and even Alice Cooper before beating Avenged Sevenfold (who also beat some giants) to get to this point. They’ll look to do the same as they take on Dio Division winners Iron Maiden who have made the final four for the second year in a row. Last year, Iron Maiden took out AC/DC to get into this finals and now they’ll have to contend with Ghost. In our other final four match, we have two titans of thrash squaring off against each other. If there was ever an argument as to who to make a member of the Big Five of Thrash Metal (if they decided to add one more member), Testament would definitely be that band. On the road to the final four, they took care of business defeating Anthrax, Death Angel, and Megadeth to get here. Last year, Testament was one match away from making it to this point before they were bounced out, but now they look to make the best of it against Big Teutonic Four member Destruction. Destruction’s road to the championship included victories over Venom, Entombed A.D. and Defending champions Kreator. Now the band looks to complete the success by defeating Testament. Whose fans will rise to the occasion, only time will tell. You have until March 31ST to decide.

Final Four 2015I want to once again take the time to thank everyone who showed up and voted in the final four round and I also want to take the time to thank all of the bands that shared the article because it benefits you as far as getting votes. We had one match that was kind of an odd pairing and another match that was a perfect storm. You had rock icons AC/DC take on power metal and NWOBHM icons Iron Maiden in one match while two titans of thrash in Slayer (representing The Big Four) took on Kreator (representing The Big Teutonic Four). Iron Maiden blazed through AC/DC earning about 60% of the votes making a no contest. Meanwhile in the other match, things were a little bit more closer than the other match, but Kreator beat Slayer 1849 to 985 in total votes. With all of that being said, the finals are now set and this looks to be a clash like no other as Iron Maiden and Kreator both look to earn their first Pedal To The Metal championship. I will have the next round up very soon so that you can all vote and decide who walks away with the crown this year.

Final Four 2015Alright all you metal fans out there, the final four of the 2015 Pedal To The Metal Tournament is finally here and as usual it’s because of you that they are here. With that being said, I want to thank everyone who has participated and voted in the tournament because this is a tournament for you guys where you decide your favorite 80’s Metal band’s fate. The final four matches are set and they are some good ones. In match AC/DC who had to go through Ratt, Motley Crue, and the Scorpions takes on Iron Maiden who beat Manowar, Dio, and Accept to earn a spot in the finals. In the other match, the original member of The Big Four of Thrash in Slayer takes on one of the original members of The Big Teutonic Four in Kreator. Kreator beat out Carcass, Celtic Frost, and Venom to earn a spot in the finals while Slayer went through Exodus, Megadeth, and Testament to be in the final four. The tournament has been interesting to say the least and you metal fans have let your voices be heard loud and clear. You guys have until Monday the 30TH of March at 11:30 AM ET to decide who moves on to the finals for the Pedal To The Metal Championship.

pedalIt was the divisional finals and again some drama brewed between the fans, but it was a good kind of drama as everyone showed their support for their favorite bands. We have the results of the Divisional Finals and some may shock you while others really shouldn’t have. In the hard rock/hair metal division, AC/DC had no problem dispatching the Scorpions 111 to 66 to earn their spot in the final four. The Heavy Metal divisional final lived up to the hype as the fans once again showed up in droves and I want to take the time to thank Accept once again for sharing the post on their page. I really appreciate it and it definitely made the contest interesting. Unfortunately, they could beat Iron Maiden in the heavy metal divisional final as Maiden took it 1911 to 1473. In the extreme metal division, Kreator was able to slay the Godfathers of Black Metal Venom 91 to 43 while in the thrash metal division, Slayer proved they were the ultimate thrash metal band beating Testament 93 to 54. The final four is set as AC/DC will take on Iron Maiden while Slayer takes on Kreator. Again, I want to thank everyone that participated in the tournament by voting and commenting on the posts. I hope that I can see all of you once again in the final four and I want to thank all the bands as well for being great sports.
