75602762_10157591626738213_1068101045881667584_oI usually do not like to deal in speculation especially when reporting on News because until it’s proven true then it’s just an opinion. So, I have some speculation news that could be huge for the rock and metal world. Nine hours or so ago, Lizzy Borden posted a picture (to the left of this paragraph) with no caption listing them as the fourth band on a bill that already features Motley Crue, Def Leppard, and Poison. The bill is already stacked with some top talent that adding Lizzy Borden to the bill would just be absolutely maniacal and would be sure to conjure up some competition for sure as to who ruled the bill. Then around the same amount of time, the band would post this next picture below asking if their fans would be intrigued to see the show if it actually happened.

So as far as we know, nothing is set in stone or concrete as to whether this is just wishful thinking on part of Lizzy Borden or if there is any actual truth to this. I have not seen any other rock or metal news sites post anything on this yet, but if I do see anything be sure that we will post the news, but there is one question that remains. Would you want to see Lizzy Borden added to this bill?

the challenge 2020Back in 2016, I accomplished a goal that I had been messing around with for years and that goal was to watch a film every day for one whole entire year. One year, I had made it to the 90’s mark while another had fizzled out in the 70’s. In 2016 though, I started the challenge on January 1st with the film Aloha and ended it on December 31ST with The Man With One Red Shoe. You can check out the blog for yourself right here at 365moviesin365dayschallenge.wordpress.com and see all of the films that I watched. It was one of the most exhausting moments of my life because it took a lot out of me to stay that committed to not only watch a film, but then to blog about it every day after watching it. Truth be told, it took me a year to shake off the effects of the challenge, but to be honest I was just craving another crack at it with different versions. I tried watching a wrestling match every day for a year and failed. I tried reading a comic book a day in 2018 and failed after 200 plus days. I just wasn’t ready to try again and I needed the right media format to continue and I think I have it folks. That is why I am declaring that on January 1, 2020, I will once again embark on the journey of watching one film a day, but this time it’s not for 365 days or 366 days, it’s to see how long I can go before I ultimately tap out. I ultimately want to hit 400 plus days, but that is going to take a lot of commitment from me. That is why I have compiled a list on IMDB as well of possible choices for the challenge. Remember, it’s 400 plus films that I have never seen before because that is what makes the challenge fun. We’ll see what happens, but for now stay tuned for more info as it comes.

We are going to keep this short and sweet because the pictures describe it better than words can so here are all the winners for both the movies and the music sides. For the wrestling side of it, please click here to go to Mr. X’s Punch Out to see those.

john-dies-banner-670x247While the horror world decides on what series they should continue and so on and so forth, there are people that are making films that are a little different than what we are used to. Sure, we have had weird supernatural films before, but none like John Dies At The End, a film that was written and directed by horror legend Don Coscarelli (Phantasm, Bubba Ho-Tep) and is our choice for Eddie’s 31 Days Of Halloween film today. He brings a new element to films that involve other dimensions, weird creatures, and time. The film is about two college dropouts who ingest a new street drug that allows you to see things that no normal human can see. It also allows you to travel to different dimensions while altering time. The only problem is that you may not return to planet earth as a human anymore. So, can Dave (Chase Williamson) and John (Rob Mayes) save the world from this silent, but deadly creatures? The film also stars Paul Giamatti (Private Parts), Glynn Turman (Gremlins), Daniel Roebuck (The Lords of Salem), Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption), and Doug Jones (Hellboy).

tumblr_mizo3k1wyv1qzuyqyo1_1280The film at times can go all over the place which frustrated me a little bit because we start off with a scene where Dave is chopping someone’s head off and then it cuts to a restaurant where the scene is never to be explained or touched upon again. The rest of the film is self explanatory where he is telling his story to the journalist in hopes that his story will be told. Some of the scenes are cheesy, but overall this was actually a very good film. There’s plenty of freaky looking creatures in the film and some weird happenings to satisfy any horror fan, but do not be mistaken by my words. The film in my opinion was not scary, but an 8 year old might believe that it is. The acting is actually pretty good and if I had to give out an MVP award it would definitely go to Williamson because he carried the film. One of the monsters that is conjured up actually looks like a member of the band GWAR, just take a look to the left. This film is an adaptation of the novel written by Cracked.com journalist David Wong so if you want to check that out, go right ahead. I am going to give the film a B- because it was truly enjoyable.

Update as of 6/23/2015: As you can see below I posted this article on the 21ST, but new information has been made available to us. According to Loudwire.com, “Disturbed just released another teaser video, which is posted below the other two tweeted videos in this post. In this one, “The Guy” rises from his slumber and directs fans to the band’s website, which contains a countdown clock leading to Tuesday, June 23, at 8AM ET.” You can check that video right here and check out the other two below.

the guyThere is no denying the impact that Nu Metal titans Disturbed had on the music scene in the late 90’s to early 2010’s before the band called it quits (or a hiatus depending on how you look at it) in 2011. I always looked at Disturbed as a band that had hit it’s peak so in my view I thought the hiatus was a good idea because it gave fans something to crave for. Look what it did for System Of A Down, fans are begging that band for another album or better yet look at Faith No More. The band took a hiatus for a long time, came back and released an album, and it was a smash hit with fans. The question is could the same thing work for Disturbed? Well, the band teased out a couple of images that has fans wondering if a potential reunion is on the horizon. The first image features the band’s mascot “The Guy” on what looks to be life support (seen here) while the second image (seen here) apparently shows him awakening as he is starting to move more. The outpouring emotions that the fans are showing are all over the place as one fan states, “Don’t play with my feelings” while a more optimistic fan states, “The beast is about to awake! Disturbed is back!” Blabbermouth.net however is offering fans more of a postive outlook on it as they preorted that that band was in Vegas with producer Kevin Churko. Nevertheless, the band has also updated their logo(you can see that below) which should be good news for Disturbed fans.Since 2011, the guys have kept themselves busy as David Draiman did his Device project while Dan Donegan and Mike Wengren had their project Fight Or Flight (which was amazing), and bassist John Moyer kept busy with Adrenaline Mob and Art Of Anarchy. I guess you’ll have to stay tuned here for more info as it becomes available, but what do you think?

virgin witchI watched The Living Dead Girl the other day and for some reason I am picking movies that are also Rob Zombie song titles and after digging through Netflix, I finally settled on this British Exploitation horror film from 1972 that was directed by Ray Austin called Virgin Witch. The movie stars real life sisters Ann and Vicky Michelle as two sisters that run away from home. They stumble upon a lecherous lesbian who poses as a big time modelling agent in order to lure virgins to the countryside to get photographed. The thing Christine (Ann) doesn’t realize is that she has been set up to be the virgin sacrifice for a witch coven that has been covered up by Sybil Waite, the lecherous lesbian.  The problem for the coven is that Christine is not just any girl as they will soon find out. The movie also stars Patricia Haines (Blood Beast From Outer Space) as Sybil, James Chase (The Leather Boys) as Peter, Keith Buckley (The Spy Who Loved Me) as Johnny, and Garth Watkins (Twins Of Evil) as Gerald.

Ann Michelle CollageThe most exciting thing about this film is the ritual scenes because the nudity and sexual nature is off the charts. If you want to watch natural naked beauties from the 70′s then this is the film because there’s plenty of it hence the reason it made it to Cheeseball Cinema. I think the more nudity a movie has, the more it fits this list.  The movie has a really slow build up sort of reminiscent of Rosemary’s Baby, where you’re expecting something to happen, but you don’t get until the end. I felt the first half of the film had way too much dialogue and the second half was the more exciting of the two. Some of the scenes as I had said are real erotic as it something you would expect from an exploitation film. The cinematographer at times didn’t take into account the different lighting problems that he would run into and the beginning of the film, the shots are real erratic and all over the place. On a scale of 1 being close to an A-list Hollywood film and 5 being the cheesiest film of all time I am going to give the film a 3 just because there was obviously way too much nudity for America to handle back in the 70’s.

Vampire LoversI have decided to stick around in Europe for today’s Cheeseball Cinema flick which includes one of my favorite actresses from the horror genre in the 1970’s. So, I have decided to watch more films in the genre that I am passionate about and that is horror films. There is something to be said about Hammer films and that is they are some of the best horror films out on the market. So, here comes the first in a trilogy of films in the Karnstein trilogy called The Vampire Lovers that stars the beautiful Ingrid Pitt as a lustful vampire that is going from castle to castle having her way with young daughters at every turn that she takes. The film also stars Peter Cushing (Horror Of Dracula) as The General, Dawn Addams (The Robe) as The Countess, Pippa Steele (Lust For A Vampire) as Laura, Jon Finch (Macbeth) as Carl Ebhardt, Kate O’Mara (The Horror Of Frankenstein) as The Governess, George Cole (Cleopatra) as Roger Morton, Madeline Smith (Live And Let Die) as Emma, Janet Key (1984) as Gretchin, Harvey Hall (Zulu) as Renton, and John Forbes-Robertson (Lifeforce) as the man in black.

ingrid pittThe film really has an epic English feel to it almost as if you are watching a Shakespearean horror film in that it was marvelously done and the sets are very Victorian and elaborate. It’s definitely one of my favorite Hammer films and it was one of the first films to really push the envelope because of the lesbian vampire angle. Every actor and actress was amazing in the film especially the seductive Ingrid Pitt who still remains the ultimate babe from that time era. She truly was a horror icon that will never be forgotten. I really loved the dream sequences that her victims would suffer, I thought some of it was pretty trippy. Of course, almost all of the women in the film were absolutely smashing and it was a shame they killed off the first vampire in the beginning because Kirsten Lindholm (Twins Of Evil) was pretty smoking. On a scale of 1 being an A-list Hollywood film and 5 being the cheesiest film of all time I am giving this film a 1.3 because it really is that amazing of a film despite what you may think and it essentially doesn’t belong here. Hammer films were horror films that were wonderfully done and the writing was always superb. Check this film out on Netflix if you have it.

Cool as Ice poster.jpgIt doesn’t have to be a horror film in order to make it as a cheeseball cinema worthy title. There have been cheesy films through ever genre of film including this 1991 piece of work that Stars Vanilla Ice (That’s My Boy) as a rapper named Johnny Van Owen who falls in love with a girl on witness protection. Kathy Winslow (Kristin Minter) is the girl that he falls head over heals for, but the only problem is that she doesn’t realize that her parents are on witness protection until a couple of guys from her father’s past show up looking to blackmail him. The film was directed by David Kellogg (Inspector Gadget) who was mostly known at the time for his music videos and it also stars Naomi Campbell as a back up singer, Michael Gross (Tremors) as Kathy’s dad, Candy Clark (American Graffiti), Victor DiMattia (The Sandlot) as Tommy, Jack McGee (Gangster Squad), and John Newton (Alive).

aaaI’m not quite sure if David Kellogg knew what he was taking, but I imagine that everyone thought this movie was super cool back in 1991 especially with all the suburban white kids who were eating up rap albums at the time. The movie is just flat out corny and it feels like a giant music video with some drama included in it. Some of the scenes are so cheesy, but I found myself glued to the television just to watch it. Vanilla Ice’s interactions are terrible in this film and what the hell were they thinking with the corny as hell old people that lived with him and fixed a motorcycle. That was just so cheesy I laughed at how stupid those scenes were. However, I don’t really blame Vanilla Ice because he was doing whatever he thought was going to get him to the top and whether you like it or not it did. He was the biggest thing in 1991 and I was into his music at the time. I blame it all on Seattle’s grunge scene especially Nirvana cause I hated that band back in the 90’s. Just admit that there are some of you out there that probably loved this film when it was first released. Whatever, in the tradition of Cheeseball Cinema, On a scale of 1 being close to an A-List film and 5 being the cheesiest film of all time, I am giving this film a 4.

Are you cool as ice?

Are you cool as ice?

File:Limp Bizkit Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water.jpgI had put off reviewing this album for a while because I was too caught up in what was being released. I never forget the day this album came out, I was in college (The first time around) and I left my class to go to the record store just to buy this the day it came out. Limp Bizkit was one of the biggest bands at the time of the release and little did we know what chain of events would happen next. Limp Bizkit was riding high on the success of their second album The Significant Other with it smash hits Nookie and N 2gether Now with Method Man. So, the question at the time was how was Fred Durst, Wes Borland, John Otto, and Sam Rivers going to be to the table this time around? There are a lot of theories as to what Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water means. The best explanation that I have seen is that Chocolate Starfish is a scatological reference to the appearance of a human anus. Hot Dog Flavored Water is an inside joke that Wes Borland had come up with after they had stopped at a truck stop. According to Wes, Fred Durst would call himself the chocolate starfish because people thought of him as an asshole.

File:LBMyGeneration.jpgThe album’s intro is very much like the intro they had on the last album where the robot claims that it’s not a test and Limp Bizkit is in the house. The next track on the record Hot Dog  is one of the most infamous tracks because he says the F word 48 times and for the fact that Fred mocks the songs Perfect Drug, Closer, and Burn by The Nine Inch Nails. Apparently, Trent had said something negative about Fred and so Fred retaliated. My Generation is the next track on the record that musically it seems that Wes and Otto were playing off of each other where it seems the music is intertwined much like the band Primus. I used to think this song was my generations battlecry because since we had started elementary, we never had any respect from any authority figures. Full Nelson is up next and it explodes right onto your speakers as Fred preached throughout the whole song how he never gets any respect from anyone, but if your face to face with him you better be to rumble. My Way was always one of my all time favorite tracks from this album because it has a certain swagger about it. Fred decides to sing more on the track instead of rapping and wes’s playing is a little different than usual. Instead of the straight up Power chords that were used to getting in metal, he was playing more complex melodic chords.

File:Rollin.jpgRollin (Air Raid Vehicle) is technically the second single off the record, but it was one of the hottest jams that year and do not try to deny that every time you hear this song you move your arms side to side liking your driving.  Livin It Up features the band sampling The Eagles Life in The Fast Line. The One is the next track and it’s all about Fred and his never ending quest for love. Getcha Groove On is the hip hop track where Fred and Xhibit trade rhymes. It’s N 2gether Now, but it was cool to hear. Take A Look Around is the amazing track where Wes Borland takes The Mission Impossible theme and he brings it to another level. It may be the best song these guys ever recorded. It’ll be Ok is a little bit on the darker side of the plane which means it’s another song about love being disappointing. Boiler is another dark track which explores the same themes as the last song. This song has a really great riff to it where it’s heavy at the beginning, soft and clean during the verse before it explodes again into the chorus. It was also the last music video to feature Wes in it before he had quit the band. Hold On is a pretty cool song that featured Scott Weiland of STP singing alongside Fred Durst in a really primitive type acoustic song. Rollin (Urban Assault Vehicle) is just a remix that features DMX, Method Man, Redman, etc.  It’s definitely one of my favorite albums that Limp Bizkit has ever released. That is why I am giving it 4 stars out of five.

a3The 70’s was definitely a weird time for just about everything or at least it seems that way. So, here comes the sequel to the first ever x-rated animated film ever Fritz The Cat called The Nine Lives Of Fritz The Cat which is an R-rated film. In this sequel, Fritz is getting sick and tired of his old lady screaming at him about getting a job that he lights up a joint and escapes into a world where he imagines what life would have been like if it was different. The features the voices of Skip Hinnant (The Patty Duke Show) as Fritz The Cat, Reva Rose (House Calls) as Fritz’s wife, Louisa Moritz (The Last American Virgin) as Chita, Bob Holt (Gremlins) as many voices, Peter Leeds (Dragnet) as Juan, and Robert Ridgley (Boogie Nights) as The Devil.

a2I have to say that the movie is interesting and a little hard to follow at times. I was totally expecting something else before I watched it. I said a little hard to follow only because how do you tell when Fritz is imagining a new life. Usually his lives are like flashbacks expect for some of them. The racial line in this film is explored to it’s limits where Fritz is a cat which makes him white apparently. In the New Africa segment, black people are represented by Crows and there’s even one life where he is having sex with a black reporter as he tells her there’s something he wants to give back. The animation isn’t top notch, but I bet it was for 1974, but I do like some of the things they do with the overall picture. There’s lots of trippy imagery in the film especially during the dream where he works with Hitler and the time he envisions himself in the 1930’s. On a scale of 1 to 5 with one being close to an A-list Hollywood film and 5 being the cheesiest film of all time, I give this one a 3.8
