Suicide-Squad-soundtrackBesides the Captain America: Civil War film, my other favorite superhero movie of the year was David Ayers take on the Suicide Squad. It’s the comic book film that is unlike any other because it features the Super-villains of DC Comics as the lead characters in a Dirty Dozen style film. To read the review of the film that I did for my 365 Movies In 365 Days Challenge blog, you can do so by going here. So one of the coolest features of the film is the soundtrack that comes attached to it that features artists like the Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, Rick Ross, Panic! At The Disco, Grace, Skylar Grey, War, and many more. The soundtrack was released on August 5 is a nice mix of what is relevant in Pop music, but there are versions of tracks on the soundtrack that were not featured in the actual film.

1. Purple Lamborghini by Rick Ross & Skrillex- a Dubstep/Hip Hop track that where you don’t actually mind the Transformers sound from Skrillex because it’s subtle. 4/5

IMG_31792. Sucker For Pain by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons(w/ Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors)- This is by far my favorite song on the whole soundtrack. It was hard for me to imagine so many different talent on the same song that I even had to watch the music video to see where Logic was on the song. One of Lil Wayne’s best raps. 5/5

3. Heathens by Twenty One Pilots- My second favorite song on the whole soundtrack from the Alternative Hip Hop group with it’s very melancholic sound. 5/5

4. Standing In The Rain by Action Bronson, Mark Ronson & Dan Auerbach- My third favorite song on the album that I would best describe as like a western meets hip hop sound with blues/rock Dan Auerbach on the track. 5/5

5.  Gangsta by Kehlani- A cool R&B track from Kehlani where she talks about not wanting any regular dude, but a Gangsta. 4/5

6. Know Better by Kevin Gates- One of my least favorite tracks on the album from Hip Hop artist Kevin Gates 3/5

7. You Don’t Own Me by Grace Featuring G-Eazy- A very cool track on the album that has Grace singing the choruses to the classic Lesley Gore track while G-Eazy raps over it. 5/5

8. Without Me by Eminem- The classic Eminem track from The Eminem Show album about how the world needs Slim Shady which is true. 5/5

9. Wreak Havoc by Skylar Grey- Kind of a cool track with guns as parts of the beat while Skylar Grey lays it down. 4/5

10. Medieval Warfare by Grimes- The track starts off pretty cool with a cool guitar track before it goes techno pop on you. 4/5

11. Bohemian Rhapsody by Panic! At The Disco- Just to clarify to people, the version you hear in the film is Queen, but the cover is what was included on the soundtrack. Nobody has the range or ability that Freddie Mercury had, but I give them an A for effort. 4/5

12. Slippin’ Into Darkness by War- The classic soul/funk War track from their All Day Music album which was a different touch for the film. 4/5

13. Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival- The classic CCR anti-war track that is ironically put into a film about the government hiring criminals to fight. 5/5

14. I Started A Joke by ConfidentialMX- This another of my least favorite tracks on the album because the song’s pace is slowed down to a snails pace where it just overly dramatic.  2.5/5

My Final Thoughts– For the most part as I said this soundtrack is a perfect mix of pop, Hip Hop, Rock, and classic rock as well. They could have made a whole separate soundtrack on all the other songs that were in the film, but this is good enough. You should definitely check out the film and the soundtrack. I am going to give the album 4.2 stars out five for a final grade.

suicide squadSome big news for fans of DC Comics and the highly anticipated David Ayer directed Suicide Squad project was released yesterday that will surely leave mixed emotions across the scope. Jared Leto, the Oscar winning actor (for Dallas Buyers Club) has officially signed on to play The Joker in the new Suicide Squad film while Will Smith (Men In Black, Independence Day) has signed on to play Deadshot. Both of them are going to be joined by Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) who plays Rick Flagg and Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street) who plays Harley Quinn. Those are the big names that are attached to the film, but they are joined by lesser known actors Jai Courtney (Divergent) who will play Captain Boomerang and supermodel Cara Delevingne will play Enchantress. The group have begun pre-production on the film and it’s set to film in and around Toronto from April to about September.

david_ayerWarner Bros. Studios worldwide production boss Greg Sullivan had this to say in a statement regarding the film, “The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote ‘Training Day’ and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of longtime Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites.” Apparently, the studio is still looking for someone to play the pivotal role of Amanda Waller, the woman in charge and responsible for the Suicide Squad, but all signs are pointing to Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder) potentially having the role. Also, there is a good possibility that Jesse Eisenberg could be joining the cast to reprise his role as Lex Luthor after having shot Superman V. Batman. The film has a theatrical release date of August 5, 2016.

Van Damme Kickboxer 1In other news, Kickboxer the remake apparently has it’s final star to get the cameras rolling. This is one of those films that I truly believe doesn’t need a remake because the first was so classic, but Hollywood calls the shots and this one is moving ahead with Jean Claude Van Damme, “The Muscles From Brussels”, is returning for the remake of the film, but not to take the role you think he is. Dennis Chan played the role of Xian Chow in the original Kickboxer film, but now Jean Claude is going to be playing him in the new film as he mentors Alain Moussi (White House Down) who now plays the role of Kurt Sloane to take on Tong Po who will now be played by WWE Superstar Dave Bautista (Guardians Of The Galaxy). They are also joined by George St. Pierre, Sam Medina, and T.J. Storm. According to The Hollywood Reporter Producer Ted Fields commented on JCVD joining the cast, “We are so excited to have Kickboxer roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation.” Tony Jaa was originally supposed to play the part of Master Chow, but due to scheduling conflicts, he had to drop out of the film.

It’s almost the end of 2014 which means that the best of lists are going to start rolling out and people re going to be thinking of what rocked or what sucked about 2014. Well, Mr. Skin has a list of his own that he is sharing with the whole world which is the top 10 nude scenes of 2014 and here is the list courtesy of Mr. Skin:

alexandra-daddario-true-detective-4

Alexandra Daddario

1. Alexandra Daddario in True Detective. “Alexandra wasn’t on anyone’s radar a year ago, but thanks to her fully nude debut- including some lip-smacking lower frontal…” Wow, I didn’t think I could be nauseous while picturing Alexandra D’addario, thanks, Mr. Skin.
2. Scarlett Johansson in Under the Skin. “It was the nude debut everyone was waiting for, and absolutely no one thought it would end up being as spec-rack-ular as it was!”
3. Eva Green in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For; Eva Green in 300: Rise Of An Empire. “That topless turn caused more than an empire to rise!”; “Eva is certainly a dame to spill for!”
4. Stacy Martin in Nymphomaniac. “Our diagnosis is that Stacy is a Skinphomaniac!”
5. Olivia Wilde in Third Person. “Olivia attempts to seduce a married Liam Neeson by dropping her towel and showing off her glorious hoots and glutes! Hey, it’s not like her name is Olivia Mild!”
6. Lizzy Caplan in Masters of Sex. “Playing one half of the sex research team Masters and Johnson, Lizzy was tireless in showing T&A for science. It’ll have you Mastering your Johnson!”
7. Keri Russell in The Americans. “Check and see if Keri Russell’d up something in your pants!”
8. Nathalie Emmanuel in Game of Thrones. “Looks like she’s a member of House Stark… Stark Naked!”
9. Shailene Woodley in White Bird in a Blizzard. “Baring her beauties for the second time in as many years, Shailene showed off her sensational sweater pups while getting busy all over the house! Ms. Woodley always manages to give us a woody!”
10. Cameron Diaz in Sex Tape. “Once it was uploaded to the cloud, it was downloaded to guy’s hard drives all across the land!”

batmanFor this week’s Super Sunday film, I went the animated route after I saw the title Batman: Assault On Arkham sitting on the shelf at one of my local stores. Ever since DC Comics announced that they were going to make a Suicide Squad film (to be directed by David Ayer), I’ve been snagging all I could on them. The film starts off with The Riddler (Voiced by Matthew Gray Gubler) getting double crossed by Amanda Waller (voiced by CCH Pounder), the head of a government division, who wants to get rid of him, but instead he is caught and thrown into Arkham Asylum by Batman (voiced by Kevin Conroy). While Batman looks to find a bomb implanted by The Joker that could harm all the citizens of Gotham, Amanda is busy assembling her new special ops team The Suicide Squad. She sends them on a mission to find The Riddler and retrieve a flash drive that could potentially harm Amanda Waller’s future. The film stars Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger) voicing Deadshot, Hynden Walch (Adventure Time) as Harley Quinn, Troy Baker (Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare) voicing The Joker, John DiMaggio (Adventure Time) voicing King Shark and Bane, Greg Ellis (Beowolf) voicing Captain Boomerang, Giancarlo Esposito (Do The Right Thing) voicing Black Spider, and Jennifer Hale (Wreck It Ralph) voicing Killer Frost.

batman and harleyOne of the cool things about the film is that it’s based in the Batman: Arkham video game world and it supposedly takes place after Arkham: Origins even though the director says it’s two years before Arkham Asylum. One of the other things is that I would be very careful before I let my young child watch this due to the sexual nature, language, and violence because this is an adult animated film. It’s rated PG-13 for a reason folks! The film definitely gives you a preview of how great a Suicide Squad film is going to be because you know Batman and The Joker will make appearances in the film. The story is amazing and it keeps you hooked to the screen and the interactions between Harley and The Joker are great as well as some of the other interactions between characters. As I said above, it’s got plenty of violence and explosions and all sorts of great stuff within the film. I absolutely loved it and I cannot wait for what else DC will put out in the future. The game is on between Marvel and DC officially. I am going to give this film an A for a final grade because it’s that damn good.

Suicide Squad

First and foremost, I want to start this off by saying thank you to all the men and women that have served in the military. I really appreciate everything you have done and I should know, there are five generations of soldiers in my family that I know of. This is something new that I am going to try that is kind of like the rock and metal news posts that I do, but this has more to do with the DC/Marvel war in my opinion because it’s getting exciting as each brand makes more and more announcements every week. So, let’s get this party started.

margot-robbie-harley-quinn-sliceThe first piece of news that I have for all of you has finally sealed the deal for me as far as my interest in the new Suicide Squad film that DC Comics has green lighted. I kept wondering if Harley Quinn was going to be in the film because I know she is not an original member of the Suicide Squad. The news that broke today has confirmed that she will be apart of it as it’s being reported by my sources that are close to Collider. Margot Robbie who is probably best known for her role as the sexy wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in Wolf Of Wall Street is going to play Harley Quinn in the David Ayer directed film. We know that she is one busy girl as she is currently filming Tarzan where she plays Jane and she also has roles in the future like Focus with Will Smith and the 2015 Sci-Fi film Z for Zachariah. The film is expected to hit theaters in 2016 so stay tuned for more info as it becomes available. Also for leaked images and video from the new Superman Vs Batman: Dawn Of Justice film, click here.

According to Nerdist News, trouble is brewing ahead for Sony as they continue to fumble the future of Spider Man. The word today is that Aunt May is going to be getting her own solo film which will be based off of a failed comic. Sony had discussed making Spider Man a female character for the next film and apparently Aunt May is the Spider Woman. She apparently is bitten by a spider, gives birth to Peter and gives him away to the woman he thinks is his mother. Does it frustrate you yet? It will have a Mad Men theme with plenty of espionage included. Apparently in the new Fantastic Four film that will come out, Dr. Doom is going to be a disgruntled blogger so forget the fact that he is the leader of a fictional country known as Latveria and Doom is his screen handle. To check out more from Nerdist, just click here.

cm punkIn other Marvel news, we will be travelling to the actual comic book world where a huge announcement has been made regarding a new writer for Thor and other stories within Marvel. CM Punk, the former professional wrestler has signed with Marvel to be a writer for the comic book company. The first issue he will start with is Thor and here is what CM Punk had to say about it, “I think it helps that I picked [an] artist who I was already friends with, and can speak freely to. I think he’ll get it, you know what I mean? I think the e-mails that we’ve sent back and forth now regarding the story, you could probably print. I just think they’re entertaining. “Hey, what if we do this?” and it turns into the next big e-mail chain. It’s hilarious.” The issue is due out in February of 2015.

justice-league-alex-ross-970x545If you’re a fan of Comic Book movies and DC Comics then you are about to get really excited as Warner Brothers announce their plans for the future and the unveiling every DC Comics based film they will make. Warner Brothers had to do something to compete with the Marvel take over in the news especially after they announced that Robert Downey Jr. would be starring in the third Captain America film bringing on the civil war in the Marvel Universe. So at the annual shareholders meeting they announced that they will start with the proposed Suicide Squad film in 2016, two films with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in her own film and the Justice League film in 2017, and then they announced new follow ups to Batman and Superman, plus a Green Lantern reboot, and the proposed Aquaman with Jason Momoa. Ezra Miller from The Perks Of Being Wallflower will play The Flash in 2018, and they announced Shazam with The Rock as Black Adam, and a Cyborg film.  There is no timeline for th efollow up Batman and Superman films, but the company announced they would love to do them in the future. Below is the timeline:

Aug. 5, 2016: Suicide Squad
June 23, 2017: Wonder Woman
Nov. 17, 2017: Justice League
March 23, 2018: The Flash
July 27, 2018: Aquaman
April 5, 2019: Shazam
June 14, 2019: Justice League 2

marvel_vs_dc_universe___fan_concept_by_soul_blade22-d7337k4-dc-vs-marvel-did-dc-bow-down-to-marvelThis arms race which Is what I am calling the battle for supremacy between DC Comics and Marvel Comics when it comes to the cinema is heating up. We all remember that for a very long time in the 80’s that DC was the serious hitter in the theaters with the Christopher Reeves Superman films and the Batman films of the early 90’s. For the most part all Marvel had going for them in the 80’s was The Incredible Hulk TV series with Lou Ferrigno. It wasn’t until Fox started doing the X-Men films and Sony doing the Spider-Man films that Marvel was taken serious in the Box Office. Yeah, they had some mishaps with the Hulk film, Daredevil (which was actually pretty decent), and the Elektra film, but right when Iron Man hit the theaters after that God awful Superman Returns film, Marvel started to take over and DC slowly fell behind. The only thing that was keeping DC afloat was the brilliant Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy while The Green Lantern was just God awful. Marvel kept it coming with both Thor films, both Captain America films, the first Avengers film, and now Guardians Of The Galaxy which has Marvel at the 7 Billion dollar mark. I will admit that DC started to get back into the game with The Man Of Steel film, but it seems now that the two prominent comic book companies are taking the battle to the tube. Marvel first stepped up to the plate with Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D while Arrow from DC was a smash hit for fans and it made sense. The show was definitely perfect as a television series rather than a film. In October, The CW will debut the brand new Flash series while fox debuts Gotham. Well, now we have more news for the battle of supremacy.

1411138630000-DCE-Supergirl-INT-v01-r01The other day, Fox had announced that they were indeed going to do the Deadpool film which had a lot of us comic book and Marvel fans excited. How did DC respond to that? Well, first they announced that they had green lighted a series for the only channel (CBS) without a superhero show as CBS will carry Supergirl. Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash) is going to be producing the show for Warner Brothers Television along with Ali Adler who is best known for her work with Glee, The New Normal, and No Ordinary Family (which was a short lived TV Series). It is said that they are going to be producing a pilot in hopes the network will order more episodes or else the network will face a hefty penalty as DC is not messing around when it comes to developing this TV Series. So, now at this point, we know that ABC has The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show, Arrow and The Flash are on CW, Fox has Gotham, and NBC has Constantine. We also know that next year ABC will place Agent Carter as a fill in for The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which the second season opens next week). The battle for supremacy is heating up, but there is more news to report.

suicide-squad-movie-david-ayer-dl-imageDC has also announced that they are going to green light the production of a Suicide Squad film. Do you not know who the Suicide Squad is? They are a team of super-villains that are given an opportunity at a lesser sentence if they go on suicide missions for the government. The team features lesser known super villains like Harley Quinn (The Joker’s girlfriend), Deathshot, and Deathstroke. The film is going to be made by David Ayer who recently directed the new Brad Pitt film that looks amazing in Fury. Even though nothing has been signed, sealed, and delivered on that, you have to think that this film could be an interesting watch with David Ayer at the helm. The man is best know for films like Suicide Kings, End Of Watch, and Sabotage which gives you a little bit of insight into how the film may look. The future of DC is looking bright as the company has already announced that Jason Momoa will star as Aquaman in a solo pic, Joesph Gordon-Levitt as Sandman, and Shazam which will feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Black Adam. I wanted to add one thing to this is that I would love to see some other comic book companies get films made like The Invisibles and many others.

invisibles
